  1. I don’t know how the Skipper feels, so I’ll go ahead anyway and disagree with you Cat.
Reading the Miranda warnings are probably the most straightforward things the police can do when arresting a suspect. “Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you?”
Even the WORST kind of suspected criminal still has rights in our society when they are arrested. It’s up to the police to obtain the evidence and for the prosecuting attorneys to use that evidence to convict the suspect...and then and ONLY THEN his/her rights should be taken away!
The current movement toward taking Miranda away from suspects is due to laziness on the part of the arresting officers. How many times have the police fucked up an investigation, resulting in an acquittal? Have you lost count already?

Доверяй, но проверяй, my friends. Trust, but Verify. Miranda should stay. Damn, this is good! I’m gonna blog this myself!

  2. The House fucked up, that’s what! Hey Skipper! Make a separate post for the Patriot Act will ya! I don’t want to hijack this post for that and I think Cat would agree!

  3. I don’t mind being informed of rights. I DO mind taxpayers providing those rights. Right to an attorney?

I have a right to keep and bear arms. Where is my government issued firearm?
