  1. In pardoning Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford healed the nation and took the hit for it. May he Rest in Peace.

  2. I’m sure there are plenty of Demoncrats cackling with glee that one of their most hated enemies is dead.  Fuck all of them in the head.

    Good job Jerry and thanks.

  4. Ford was also the last surviving member of the Warren Commission.

  5. "a bleak time for the military and for the country as a whole...” No, Skip, see, the dems fought the war really hard and won; against America, that is. They ended the Viet Nam war and brought peace. After the American illegal war ended, Viet Nam became a land of peace and birds singing and kites flying and children laughing. Boy, you rightofacists just do not learn the real true history, do you?

  6. Oh, and they kicked out Nixon, the evil Rethug who started the war, too. Then Ferd pardoned him in a backroom deal when he forcibly took the presidency that should have gone to the dems right away.

  7. I remember Gerald Ford as a decent guy in a tough position.  What I liked most about him was that he followed a very centrist policy.  He did not veer to the right or the left, even when it might have done him some political good to do so.  He was an honest and decent man who did his best by our country.

I didn’t like the Nixon pardon, I really wanted to see Richard Nixon behind bars.  Whether I liked it or not though, even then I had to admit that Ford’s pardon of Nixon was the better option for the country.  It’s unfortunate that Nixon’s antics (including the “Enemies List") and the Watergate scandal so stained the Republican party and the entire concept of conservatism that Ford and many other fine politicians who’s only fault was being Republican, were defeated by the Democrats and Jimmy Carter who then demonstrated just how bad an inept administration could be.

Rest in peace President Ford, I miss you.

  8. I think that if Ford had not pardoned Nixon when he did, had had his legal folks delay any congressional movement toward criminal indictments, had run on a “recover America, you’re still the greatest” ticket, he might have won. Then what would have happened with Iran, the oil embargo and so many other things that followed on with the peanut merchant and history that affects us to this day? Hmmmm....
