  1. Was this at all unexpected? Ford was in power barely half a term. Remember how these dingdongs went off when Reagan died?

“First” - Ford pardoned Nixon for his involvement in something that was rinky dink relative to the era. Think LBJ and JFK didn’t spy on their opponents? Think various presidents didn’t use the FBI and CIA for a little midnight data gathering? Don’t be niave. That doesn’t make it right, it just makes it common. And yes, it was tearing the country apart. The press still hasn’t recovered. Watergate was the 2nd tab of LSD that opened their minds to the idea that they are actually running the country. The first tab was of course, Walter Chronkite deciding that the US had lost Vietnam because our troops WON the Tet Offensive battle. Thanks alot Uncle Walter, ya drooling leftist sodomite.

“Second” - From what I can remember, Kissinger was on the wane by Ford’s day; in his moment of power I always thought the guy was an appeaser. Dick and Rummy were babies in those days, weren’t they? Wasn’t Cheney Ford’s press secretary at first? OOooh, such an evil grand vizier role that was. Even if/when either of them rose to a position of warmongering, we weren’t having a war! With anybody! Did the USA even invade some Bannana Republic during Ford’s tenure? I don’t remember, so if we did it was mighty tiny. So, “bloodthirsty”? WTF moonbat, WTF.

“Third” - Ok, you got him there. Sort of. Except that he was only continuing American Cold War policy of supporting tinpot dictators that said they were anti-commie. Let’s not forget that the actual invasion generated very few casualties, and that most of the deaths happened later until Suharto’s repressive rule. Let’s also remember that half the deaths happened under Clinton’s era, and that many of the total deaths were due to starvation and illness. It is the very poorest corner of the Third World after all.

“Fourth” - huh? I’ve paid attention to politics for a long time, and this is the first I’ve heard of this one. If you want to talk down to us plebes, throw us a frickin bone (in terms of an explanation) once in a while.

So shut up already. No one is trying to make him a saint. But on the day a man dies, or even that whole week if he was leader of the free world for even a short time, you do the HONORABLE thing and find something nice to say. HONOR. Crazy concept for the DUers, I know.

  2. When Carter and Clinton die, they had better have an anchor tied to them.  That way neither will float out of their coffin on a stream of spit and piss.

Ford?  A guy thrown into a mess not of his own making who did the best he could with what he had.  Rest in peace president Ford.

  3. "Third, Ford gave the green light to Indonesia’s illegal invasion of East Timor, resulting in up to 200,000 DEAD PEOPLE.”

Whoa! Were up in arms about 200k but a few million dead after the dem congress cut off funding for southern ‘nam doesn’t merit a note?

2-3 million dead in the killing fields is ok if it’s your congress at work eh?

Disgusting people, they need to be fixed to keep from breeding.

  4. Gdonovan, they are having sex but liberals have abortions at a much higher rate than any other group.  They are moving on towards self extinction.

  5. Of course, if any of you try to write any of this stuff on the DU site, the tolerant and open minded free speechers there will ban you, remove what you have written, then crow about how they chased a Rethuglican troll from their midst.

These pathetic vile deluded pieces of shit are not worth the cyberink you, I or anyone else is wasting on them.

  6. Folks, here we have in a nutshell the final break between modern liberalism and me.  You cannot debate with a liberal without getting called names and being attacked for things you never said.

I’m sure that at some point I’ve said something that someone else here disagrees with, but the discussion still continued in a decent manner.  Even though liberals trumpet human rights and respect for others, it’s actually on the conservative side of the world that I see those ideals honored.

  7. Drew458 (RE “it just makes it common."): Let’s not forget Bubba’s FBI “Filegate” era.
Dr. Jeff: As I have come to expect, you offer a lucid, concise punchline. Thanks, Doc.

  8. Dr. Jeff, one of the things I like about this board is the usual civility.  Folks can disagree but when the argument goes from debate to personal attack the attackers get shut down by either other posters or the skipper.

  9. AMEN. I don’t care what your opinion is as long as you don’t frag me or the other posters. People can talk and dissent without being assholes.

That has always been and always will be BMEWS. At least as long as I’m around.

  10. Thank you all.  I know I’m in good company here and I appreciate it very much.

I hope you’ve all had a fine Chanuka, a Merry Christmas and are gonna have a rockin’ New Year.

  11. Was this guy tested for rabies before he posted his anti-Ford rant?

Posted by CKO86    United States   12/29/2006  at  04:36 PM

  12. CKO - you really gotta ask?  Didn’t you know that angry passion has replaced logic and typical reality based concepts in American Political Philosophy?!?  Get With It!

Posted by Dr. Jeff    United States   12/29/2006  at  06:41 PM

  13. I have never seen anything that wasn’t the most vile and contemptable of things posted at what some people and myself call the DUmp. IT’s for good reason as alot of you know. They have made it a fine art to avoid reality even after it was shown just how wrong they are. They are only interested in their rights not yours and yet we conservatives get raked over the coals for everything they do in DUmmieland
