“Now for something completely different…”

  1. It was a nice show - a bit closer to reality than most sitcoms in regards to the family. But like all good shows, it ended too soon to make room for ‘reality’ tv (thanks due to the success of Survivor which is now in it’s 100th season of fake ‘reality’) and thus the 20 somethings running tv land have yet again destroyed tv.

I just looked over the Fall Preview schedule - and guess what - there is nothing that peaks my interest enough to even catch a premiere much less say - Yes, yes a new show that looks really really interesting.

Such a shame 400 channels and nothing to watch.

  2. Such a shame 400 channels and nothing to watch.

The shame is that you are paying for it.

The wife and I are pretty much social pariahs. We do not have cable or DirectTV. I believe that on our block, street, or workplaces, we are the only ones who don’t have “400 channels and nothing to watch.”

We get by with whatever is on broadcast, or from the library, or from our Netflix account.

And if we are really, really, hard up for entertainment, we’ll do one of two things: Read to each other, or molest each other.

I really enjoyed the last time the cable guy came knocking on our door:

“What do you do for entertainment?” asked he.

    “We f**k,” I answered.

You know, the door-to-door cable guy hasn’t knocked since then. Been over a year now.

  3. I have not had TV in any form for more than five years, now.  I don’t miss it, except during the NFL playoffs & Super Bowl, which I watch at my Brother-in law’s house.

For entertainment, since I am unattached, I read (am currently re-reading ‘Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell’ by Susanna Clarke, which I recommend heartily) ten to twenty books per month, depending on length, and spend a lot of time on the internet, including considerable lurkage, here.
