  4. Too bad (according to the map) we no longer have our American contractor living in Germany.  He could drive over and kick the Schweinehund’s ass.

  5. OFF TOPIC, AGAIN

My Thai dau/law and her husband passed the Homland Security’s “Green Card"(the movie) test—to determine that it’s not just a marriage in name only—so someone can get in the country legally. The joint address, joint auto title & insurance, & wedding album with her parents attending helped a bunch.  Still they had their lawyer go with them.

“Homeland Security” is a good title and mission, but the administration is crap.  Example: They don’t notify you of your upcoming appointments, then cancel the application because you did not attend. That one cost $350 in attorney fees to resolve.

Is there some quota for hardworking short, sweet & somewhat plump Thai girls?  We wouldn’t want Moslem guys from Pakistan to feel like we’re picking on them, would we?

  6. Don’t feel singled out on the green card dance. The hard-working folks at USCIS in Milwaukee sent me and my favorite ‘pina for loop this last year.

We turned in all our stuff by the numbers. We got the notice that it was being processed and that we’d get a notice in 6 months to come in for an interview and fingerprinting along with turning in photos. Okeydoky, no probs, so we wait. And wait...and wait.

Finally after listening to the “tiny bride tirade” for about the 47th time about how we should go down there to find out if we missed our appointment or “whatever you messed up, honey” (grrrrr!!!), I spend about 3 hours trying to get answers over the phone, the final result of which is: I set up an appointment to visit our friendly neighborhood Immigration Officer. Just like the wife ordered.

We get up to the counter (where I get to explain the whole “we did this and that and never got an appointment” bit and she has my wife do her fingerprinting, asks us a couple of casual questions about address changes and stuff and takes the photos that we fortunately had already taken. She tells us she’ll look into it and get back to us about what we should do next. She also tells us we should go on ahead and process Jos’s papers for citizenship as we are elgible and hints we might get that done before we get her green card.

A couple of weeks later completely out of the blue we get her green card in the mail with the photos we just turned in. From what I’ve been able to determine, they screwed up and forgot to send her invitation for interview and took our stuff and processed it immediately to make up for their mistake. Irritating but at least they fixed their error. An apology would have been nice though. You really have got to stay on top of them at all times or you will find yourself behind the eightball.

    Good luck.

  7. Skipper I noticed LGF were also having trouble with DOS yesterday. Related? Some crazed mad mullahs ganging up on us? (love that “bastard inside” logo btw)

Oink having dealt with US Immigration first hand I can sympathise. Seems having a sense of humour is not essential to a job in immigration (given my occupation I can vouch for that!)
They unfortunately have to do it all by the book or some shitbag will scream they are being discriminated against. Typical that the law abiding are persecuted at the expense of the less scrupulous in or society.
