  1. Wait, the right to burn the flag with a gun in my hand is what makes me an American. flag

  2. Nice analogy, Z.  The thing is, you’d never burn the flag.  More than likely, you’d use that gun to shoot some ass who’s burning the flag.  I’m not bothered by this.  I like the idea of The Flag Police snatching some asshole, America-hating activist off the street and out of the ashes and slamming him into jail.  That suits me fine.  I also like that the ACLU has its panties in a wad over this.

  3. I had this discussion a few years ago with some fellow veterans. They were all for the law. I was against it. I explained that you can’t legislate respect. You either respect the flag or you don’t. I respect the flag as a symbol of all it represents and those lost while serving it. Perhaps the answer is to give the dickhead dickhead  an on the spot ass woopin’.

One of the commenters at another site opined that if you make flag burning illegal you’re only going to get more flag burning. Personally, I’d like to be standing by with a super soaker filled with gasoline to give ‘em a helping hand to get a really good fire going...if you catch my drift. Oh, a shame if the dickhead lighting it somehow got ‘involved’ in the conflagration. tut, tut.  flag flag flag flag flag

  4. "can’t legislate respect”? Then how come I’d get arrested if I went into the Senate during session and threw rotten tomatoes at the whole bunch? Why is there a penalty for “comtempt of court” and “contempt of the Senate”?

    R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Sing it, Aretha!

    tune

sock it to me, sock it to me ....

  5. Why does Congress waste time with this totally useless legislation? Don’t they have anything important to pass? Like a Balanced Budget Amendment? Or Social Security reform? Or doing away with the NEA, NEH, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, etc? Why waste time trying to ban political speech.

Why the hubub over flag burning? That’s the proper way to dispose of a flag. (unless I’m misremembering my flag etiquette) Guy goes out, buys a flag, burns it. Has to buy another one for the next protest. And the next. And the… you get the picture.

Time to buy stock in flag manufacturers.

  6. W I L D T H A N G .... I think I LUV youuuu.......... But I wanna know fore shore....

Sock it me, Capt’n.  You’re right.  R E S P E C T.  You’re darn right you can legislate for it.  I think Stin was thinking more philosophically.  You cannot force people to respect something, but you sure as hell can spank ‘em if they don’t.

    That’s what I’m talkin’ about.

By the time I get to Phoenix, he’ll be risin’.... he’ll see the note I left hangin’ on the door.... I just couldn’t take it no more… cuz you gave me no R E S P E C T.

I feel like singing some more.  This turkey-turd-tan color makes me want to sing.  Where do I get those little singing note thingies?

  7. By the way, is anyone bothered by the weirdness of that little kid who was found in Utah?  And his family?  The whole thing sticks in my craw what with him asking to play video games five minutes after he was found.  And the mother saying his will to survive was because he had Pokeman cards coming in the mail.

oh.  Vedddy strange.  Gives me cold chills and forest fever.

  8. The little boy hid when anybody got close because of the mother’s warnings, little idiot.

The mother should have instructed him:  When you are lost in the mountains and it’s cold as hell when the sun goes down, if you see anyone, you should try and get their attention.  Otherwise, you will be stupid and first you’re stoopid, then you’re dead.

It’s just a total lack of respect for the mountains.

  9. I respect the flag as much as anyone but it’s just a SYMBOL. I’ve met no one that’s willing to die for a symbol. I hope the flag burning amendment goes NOWHERE!

  10. They had better not worry about the flag, and instead do something about that SCOTUS decision that put all private property owners under the gun.  The flag will not mean much without a country that is worthy of it.

    GRRRR!!

  11. Hear, hear, Tann. Property rights have been protected from this in six states, I believe. It’s time for the others to take the same measures that we thought had already been guaranteed by the Constitution. Live, learn and fix what’s wrong.

We cannot allow the tyrrany that will be unleashed by petty officials at the local level. It looks like a prime opportunity for more graft, corruption and personal abuse of power at an even more direct cost to individuals and their property rights.
