  1. Sadly if someone is intent on murdering another it doesn’t matter what’s outlawed.  A weapon can always be found be it a pillow, a chair, broken glass, or whatever.  And there’s still no guarantee that outlawed weapons won’t be in the hands of criminals.  That’s due to criminals not giving a flying frack about the laws to begin with.

My condolences to the parents, siblings, and friends of the murder victims.

  2. About 15 years ago a man was murdered in a Dayton grocery store. The weapon? A can of beans.
I’m still waiting for cries of ‘reasonable canned bean control’.

My point is that many everyday items can be used for mayhem. A can of beans, a potato (yes, Grasshopper, a man was once killed by a potato to the head. Fired from a specially designed potato gun.)

BTW, I always carry a knife. Two, in fact. A folding 5-inch sheath knife on my belt, and a two-inch pocket knife in (surprise!) my pocket. They are tools. They cut through shrink-wrapped magazine bundles easily. Which allows me to sort them into delivery sequence on my mail route. I also hope that, in the event I’m kidnapped, the perps will miss the pocket knife after finding the sheath knife.

Let us not mention the hidden sword in my walking stick! Not just the hidden sword, the head of the walking stick is a functional war-hammer/spike. Another useful tool that allows me to defend myself and the wife while strolling through the (Democrat-ruled) city of Dayton.

So, yes, get a grip. Whatever weapon you ban today will be replaced by some other innocuous item. Then you will ban that, and it will be replaced by… ad infinitum…

  3. "If you carry a knife there’s the intention to use it...”

Okay is there gonna be a “War on Mom in the kitchen” now?

I can’t claim to know about this actor’s premonitions or paranoia or whatever it was. But if he’s experienced enough to have just finished shooting a Harry Potter movie, had he paid attention he’d have realized that if stagehands can’t have knives in their pockets, you’re looking at perhaps an hour or two extra *every day* on the set because the hands don’t have the proper tools ON THEM when they go into some spot that’s hard to get to to fix something. Not to mention you’re looking at situations that can potentially get someone killed, because a hand is 30 feet above a concrete floor and can’t cut away the wreckage around something that has slipped and is now a weight hanging over everyone’s heads.

  4. If it wasn’t a knife, they would have used a bottle, or rock.... the possibilities are endless.
Miscreants will always find something to utilize in order to wreak havoc on the society they exist in.

  5. My condolences to the family.  I’m always repulsed by the loss of potential.

Having so said, this will continue until the United Kingdom understands ‘the government’ cannot prevent such problems by legislative proscription.  Until subjects become citizens and are able to defend themselves, the villains will continue being villains.

When the risk of committing a crime ‘costs more’ than the rewards, crime will cease.

The United States is slowly understanding this and we are slowly starting to make this sort of crime unprofitable.  We’ll see how long it takes.

  6. The only real solution to the public threat of violence by such criminals is an aware, trained, and armed populace. Concealed carry has proven to reduce crime everywhere it has been introduced.
If some douche bag realizes that her or she is going to be cut down in a hail of gunfire anytime they attempt to commit a crime they will be far less willing to risk themselves for a minimal gain.
Not only that, society will benefit by the really stupid people being removed from the gene pool as they will be the ones who get killed first to provide the “good examples”.
Now if we could just flood the prisons with Sarin nerve gas…
