2. Man, I thought the upshot was going to be that the crate fell off the car and ole Seamus was killed by the car following behind. I agree - a non-story if ever there was one.

3. Maybe they shoulda walked the dog more often, but if the dog generally liked the ride and the crate was secure I don’t see any real issue.

4. Up here (NY), people go to jail for less.  The sheriff was patrolling the area i live in last year looking for a guy they suspected of intentionally hitting a Canada Goose.  The damned things are everywhere and the few attempts that have been made to get rid of them have resulted in huge outcries.  Seriuosly, the penatly in NY for killing a pet is greater than beating somebody up.  So leave the dog alone, slap the person around.
   This guy got two years for killing a dog and ONE year for slashing a girl with a knife.
