  1. A mere 75 pound fine for each thief, and a very expensive trial and defense for the lawful property owner. What a terrible joke the British legal system has become.

  2. The fact that this man had to even face charges is amazing.  He left these two scumsucking weasels alive, so they could tell the authorities how all they wanted was a little bit of gas to use to get to the store and buy baby formula for starving orphans and blah blah blah (heart bleeding begins).

If this nonsense continues, then leaving bad guys alive will be a bad option and that is what is going to start happening.  When you have law abiding citizens who fear the retribution of the justice system more than they fear the criminals that wish to harm them, there is a problem.  When that happens, thieves and robbers will have a much greater instance of dying.  Had this guy killed both of them, threw down a knife, maybe even cut himself a couple of times, nothing would have happened and it would be his story versus.....no one.

I remember the “old days” when homeowners who had defended themselves during a robbery or burglary, were told if you kill the guy, drag his body into the house, throw down a weapon and so on, just to avoid this type of BS.  Thank GOD for the castle doctine, aka the stand your ground law.  Most victims are NOT lawyers, they are your average everyday law-abiding citizens.  And when they are attacked, most rational behavior leaves them, and they will panic. And if faced with a life or death situation or harm to their families, that panic may turn into brutal retaliation.  They should not be blamed for the position they were placed in by the scumbag.  If someone breaks the law, they are responsbile for whatever happens to them.  And if they get grieviously harmed or even killed, well, robbery and burglary is a dangerous business.

Innocent people should NOT be in fear of their justice system when all they did was protect themselves.  But this justice system inserted itself into the fray and basically Monday morning quarterbacked the situation.  The real message to all bad guys is simple...Don’t start nothin...won’t be nothin.

If you come onto someones property to do steal or do harm, all bets are off.  If you leave in handcuffs, consider yourself lucky.  If you leave in a body bag, well, that’s the price you pay when you run with the bad dogs.

The old saying, “Dead men tell no tales” holds true.  If our justice system places greater concern on the rights of the criminal over that of the victim, than there is something seriously wrong.  That is a true indication that our world is changing, and not for the better.

Boy it’s getting hot...where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

  3. Well, at least there are still a few sane people in England.

Sadly, the crazy ones remain in charge…

  4. Spot on guys. And just to make the point.
I was preparing something for post tomorrow, has to do with a senior judge here who thinks that short prison terms for criminals ...

  5. I thought perhaps ... just perhaps ... that he could have gone a bit overboard on one of the perps. But reading the article, it appears the perp struck him first with a fencepost and then was disarmed and beaten with it. So ... oh well, too bad for you, Jolly Jim.

  6. It’s about damn time, there maybe hope for the mother country yet, here all bets are off, for now.

  7. After the update:

Good outcome, lucky jury selection, expensive and thus lousy process for Mr. Woodhouse.  I hope his defense costs don’t push his business into bankruptcy (it was already on the edge.)
