Just a guess, but it looks like RAF Lakenheath. As for the British Airways aircraft, it is a target.
hehe, I work here, so i’ll leave it up to someone else to answer.
Skipper, put the British Airways aircraft there and screw up the people. Finally looked at the enlarged version. I was about 180 degrees off with the first answer.
It is Yokota AB, Japan.
It’s like a little Mayberry RFD plopped down in the middle one of the most dense metropolitan areas of the world.
Pretty cool place to live, but depending on how the base is run, it has its ups and downs.
You are looking at a 2 mile runway. Not overly used but is there just in case the balloon goes up. Yokota is also an alternate landing site for the Space Shuttle.
The base boundries are hard to make out in the photo but those with a keen eye can make out the two housing area offshoots. The one on the east looks like Snoopy’s head and the one on the west has alot of green area. If you orientate the map East to West, it looks like snoopy driving a tank.
Life is good.
Gotcha with that BA airplane, didn’t I? I’m a sly ol’ dawg, yes I am. Fake ‘em out with one hand and pick their pocket with the other.
I figured KusiJiJi would jump on it. Thanks KJ for letting me dangle them a bit.
I think tomorrow I’ll show a picture of a Singapore Airlines jet and a map of Spangdalehm AFB to really futz with you guys.
Wanna bet? Spent four years living there and flying the Phantom at Spangdahlem. Both my girls were born while I was stationed there.
I shoulda got that one, I was in Yokota AFB, at least for a couple hours, en route from the frozen wastes of Anchorage, to lovely and sunny Cam Rahn Bay, just about 36 years ago…
