Local Councils in England getting out of hand? A spark of hope…

  1. You are wise to be wary of Mrs. Balls. Both of the “bollocks” are old school Labour. However I wouldn’t worry about this scheme. Back in the early eighties when the Tories had to sort out the last Labour mess they had a scheme called YTS. It was essentially dole money but only if you attended a training scheme. This will be the same. However anything the Bollocks dream up now is never going to happen. Labour are finished. Brown will probably face a challenge to his leadership in September. I doubt they have the gumption to force him out but even if they did they will still lose next June when the people finally get their say. If they keep Brown they will be shellacked in the election. If they get rid of him and appoint a new Prime Minister they may retain a few more seats but either way they are doomed. Balls and Cooper are just going through the motions.

As for Camoron. Well he was never my first choice and I don’t believe he is right wing enough. He is another Ted Heath I fear, but as regards his road toll charges policy. This is only for new roads, not for existing roads. I don’t have a problem with this. If you don’t want to pay to use a new road then stick with the old ones.

  2. Lyndon,
    Thanks.  Knew you’d have something.

The wife usually isn’t a mutterer but I must say, over time since returning to her country, she reads the morning papers and I can hear her muttering.  She doesn’t cuss at all but I can tell she might like to cut loose.  Like yesterday with this huge banner headline telling us all how some MPs very quietly tried to pass something, I can’t remember details at the moment. But anyway , wouldn’t ya think that after the hue and cry over the expenses scandal only a month ago, wouldn’t ya think they at least would learn something. Like, you can’t hide from the press. But no. Caught again in a new scam of sorts. Involves money of course and of course as you know, money is supposed to be tight here. I keep hearing about how broke the country is.  Well sure.  With million pound plus quangos of unelected, with immigrants and mostly illegal, and with MPs STILL taking “FACT FINDING” vacations first class at the expense of the public, of course it’s broke. Bah.  I tell ya Lyndon, I despair.

  3. Peiper:  Most welcome for the article.  I know it’s bad there, but when we get a chance to highlight a bright light (Peter Davies) in the darkness (Government overspending, bureaucracy, and stupidity), well, let’s just say it’s a good thing for us to yell loudly from the rooftops about.  Who knows, maybe we’ll get a few converts.

Lyndon:  Thanks for your comments about Labour’s goose being cooked soon, if not already.  May this come to pass.  The people really, really need government off their backs.  (Oh, and I hope the Missus enjoyed the article about Mayor Davies.  Sounds like she could use some hope too.)
