  1. What better way to laze away a day than reading some WW2 history I personally never had known before.
    Enjoy:

  3. Happy Fourth.  big_us_flag

I must be getting old - I am not adjusting to working at all. Drama (it’s due the 2nd, Not, now due on the 15th) and 3 different ‘templates’ in as many days (please this co in effect since 1997 - they suddenly don’t have templates) Oh wait - its O’care that has thrown this into such a pickle - my bet. Then everyone goes on a trip. And I finally get it - businesses (especially private ones) do NOT function like the military ones that I used to work for. Step back, take a deep breath and go work but don’t drive yourself crazy doing it. The measly paychecks are nice - as I was able to actually put something into savings which I haven’t done in a while.

Been doing nothing but overeating this weekend. We went to (the most pathetic, although brand new) Krispy Kreme shop - they only seemed to specialize in glazed doughnuts. Oh well at least some of them were chocolate.

Went to Dressing Downton at the Taft Museum. While everyone’s gaga over the clothing (of a tv show) which I have not seen at all, I’m worshipping at the alter of a beautifully built house that has a fire place in every room and high ceilings and wood moulding and beams. I was born in the wrong generation.

Found out that the son (who is deployed in a non-shooting but still crazy ME country) is coming home in about 2ish weeks. Since he has @ 2ish years left - Hopefully no more deployments for him. Yeah!

Trump to be here on Wed - do I go or not? I went to see whatshisname and Sarah Palin in 2012. This one will be inside - and not a airplane hanger. I will see. Although I doubt I will get in by this time.

Friend sent me this - appropriate:

  4. I work an odd schedule (Sun-Wed 1800-0430) so my 4th week has looked like this:
Sat - pop in to see Mom and Dad before work
Sun - make an appearance at a friends house for 4th/son’s birthday party
Mon - have lunch with Mom and Sis before work (which doesn’t start until 23:30 due to holiday)
Tues & Wed - normal work schedule (for now)
No OT scheduled for Thurs YET

The fireworks in the neighborhood started Sat. Our two cats, Daphne (at 9 the old lady of the house) and Jinx (the 1 yr old holy terror...or sweetheart, depending on the minute of the day) were NOT amused.

  5. OK, I do have something, a blast from the past courtesy of a certain quiet president:

“About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.”

Anyone guess who it is without Googling?
