Justice or Politics?

 

It really upsets me that I have a great unease about this. This is such and open and shut case as far as I can tell ... the lower courts were wrong, period. That I have any trepidation at all about the outcome is in itself very worrying. That I realize that this is a total crapshoot is very upsetting: it is my belief that the nine people in America whose very job is to be above politics are not above politics shows my utter lack of faith in the system.

If the decision goes against Sotomayor it should cost her the nomination. Period. But if the decision goes against the firemen then it will open season on white guys applying for jobs. And that’s how I see it, that’s the way things are going, and that’s what I think will happen. Please, Roberts, Scalia, and at least 5 others, prove me wrong.

1. Some days, one wonders if our Republic can be salvaged.  This is just SICK.  Imagine if the results had been the other way around, and too few whites had passed.  Would we even be talking about this?

   Why have tests AT ALL, then?  Why not simply pick the right percentages instead of wasting the time and money for the test?

   God help us…
