  1. No. It’s been many a year since regular mailmen had to collect from the collection boxes. We got ‘special’ people for that now. Couldn’t have regular mailmen hanging around until the proper collection time. We had mail to deliver. And as the mail volume dropped, the longer the routes got. When I quit I had 700 stops a day. And I had to walk every damn mile of it!

    Kept waiting for one of the old-timers to retire so I could bid on a mounted route…

    That IS funny, though! grin Even if I never showed a butt crack!
