Is lack of politics killing this blog?

  1. Could be after I clear out debris from my hard drive with, for instance, CC Cleaner and then try to access this blog IE7 has trouble loading the page and stops responding. It takes two or more tries before all the cookies and crap loads back up that I can access the page. Maybe other folks have the same trouble and just move on.

Then there is the matter of the Skipper checking out. His passing wasn’t that long after Vilmar left the blog, in it’s way that was like a death also.

Anyhow, I look in every day or so, but rarely log on so I don’t know if that affects your counters or not. I do miss a lot of the stories showing how full of crap the global warming pushers are.

  2. Sorry I haven’t been checking in daily - my life is busier than I ever planned - I can’t even imagine if I was working - I’d have no life of my own at all.

You are right about the politics - but it’s their own damn fault - they are the ones who started it two nano seconds after the November 06 election and have drummed away at us for so damn long - I do believe that their intention is to bore the citizens into a coma so that Obama The Movement will be crowned King of the World - without so much as the ‘little guy’ having to bother their little heads with voting.

I’m all for beating up on all of the candidates - daily - just as they are beating us up with their vapid, stupid and utter useless ‘campaigns’ -

BMEWS is just going through a re-adjustment phase - we will get back on our feet, soon.

  3. I’d continue to enjoy the more ironic political stories, such as McCain as a victim of his own campaign finance bill.

Lets not forget global warming, Iraqistan, energy issues, open borders, and evolution.

  8. Ok, that’s a start. Keep the ideas coming.

I’ll keep a closer eye on good old Dave Barry. As for DBD, it’s pretty amazing how little baby weight Sam put on, and how fast it came off. Easy to do when you’re just made out of ink. Are they gonna get mugged tonight? I doubt it. But then, I didn’t see it coming when Jan’s car got stolen, and I thought Muir had killed her off in the car wreck. So I fired off an angry email ... he’s always been good at responding ... and it turned out I got played. ha friggin ha.

I don’t know about linking to Vilmar. I don’t know the guy; I never knew the guy. I don’t know why he left, and I don’t know when. By the time I started coming here and really noticing things he was gone. I’ve visited his blog a few times, and it seems very much like this one. I did just take a jump over there, and there is bad news. His dad had to undergo gall bladder surgery and is not doing well, and has been taken from the hospital to a hospice center. That is not a good thing. I’m sure those of you reading this here who knew him back then will want to stop over there and have a kind word to say and send up a prayer. http://antzinpantz.com/kns/?p=1298

There are quite a few odd news sites, and nuttynutty is another one. Goofy news bits are fun, though they aren’t much to write about. But I’ll give it a go.

I have no idea why, or if, this page loads slowly. As far as I can tell it only loads 1 cookie, and I don’t think I have any control over that. I know that it loads slower when we have lots of graphics and videos on the front page, so perhaps we could make the effort to put more of them “below the fold”. When Mr. C gets back from his journey I’ll try and catch him as he zooms by so we can look under the hood and see what’s up. BMEWS isn’t optimized for any particular browser, so they will neither help nor hurt. On the other hand IE7 is not the browser of choice these days and is hated by many. I keep it around for “emergencies” but the thing is a dog. Many better choices out there these days.

  9. I dunno, I can see giving us your take on any politics that stays in the news cycle a few days. But for real entertainment, I’d suggest taking something that’s been staying in the news cycle and then looking up the comments about in Daily Kos and HuffPo. I betcha we could have more fun with the hard left reaction to the political news than we could with the political news itself.

  10. I don’t know either drew.  Skipper had an unbelievable talent that I’ve yet to see duplicated anywhere else on the web.  I admire you guys who picked up where Allan left off but its kind of like being amongst friends but our main drinking buddy is no longer with us and the bar is not quite the same.

With that said, Grumpy’s suggestion gave me a thought.  Maybe its time we take on a project.  Something the Skipper would have found worthwhile and amusing.  How about considering turning part of BMEWS into a rally point to go after Barking Moonbats on their home turfs.  We start with a leftwing nutjob blog we all agree upon, get logins and launch concentrated pinpoint attacks.  After we hone our skills, perfect our strategies and organize properly, we expand our bloody havoc elsewhere.

Just a thought in the early stages of infancy.  If anyone is interested, maybe we can collectively come up with a plan of attack.

  12. Kuso wants to become a net pirate? Hmmm.

And Grumpy wants me to suffer thru reading huffpo and kos. Oy. But there is an infinite supply of ammunition there, so maybe that could be a good idea.

Dennis, been reading old copies of Mad mag?
Gee, don’t understand the problems you mention.  I use IE7 a lot, and don’t have that problem at all.

Nope, never used an avatar when commenting here. Picked that one a few weeks ago when I left the comment, “I’m schizophrenic and so am I”, I thought that fit well and Spy versus Spy was a favorite of mine in Alfred E. Neumans old mag.

I just mentioned IE7 but it could be Norton anti virus in combination with something else.
It only happens after I clean out temp files, cache and any other dust bunnies on my drive, then the last few things trying to load on the page hang. Not a problem for me. I let IE7 hang a few times and then all is well after that till the next time I do house cleaning. I just mentioned it as a possible reason some folks may move on if they experience the same problem, not realizing it’s just a nuisance conflict with some of their own browser and software security features.

  14. Okay, I gotta concede the point on that one.... you shouldn’t read Daily Kos or HuffPo unless you know for certain that yer sense of humor is up for it that day. And really, that would probably get boring before too long as well. Same people saying the same loony things.

    Hmmm....
