  1. Typical bullshit from Sharpton and Jackson, they’re offended at everything white these days it seems.
Just like the Muslims. What a frakkin’ mess.

  2. Nappy-headed - the ‘new’ N word.

Does not anyone see the hypocrisy in Al ‘Tawana Brawley’ Sharpton and Jessie ‘Hymietown’ Jackson carrying out this inquisition?

It’s all fine and dandy when black rappers denigrate black women and women in general ( being the basis of the whole hip-hop culture as far as I can tell ).  But let a white guy say something, fageddabout it. - I’m not defending Imus here, just noting the hypocrisy.  Maybe they should focus some of their ire at the baby-daddy problem.

  3. When I first heard of the remark by Imus I immediately [yes, immediately] recalled the very first sentence from Stevie Wonder’s song “I Wish” on the fabulous Songs In The Key Of Life album released in the mid 1970s. Here’s how the song begins:

    Looking back on when I
    Was a little nappy-headed boy.
    Then my only worry
Was for Christmas what would be my toy.
    Even though we sometimes
    Would not get a thing,
    We were happy with the
    Joy the day would bring.

Imus has a long, long history of daily firing his staff [practically all personal friends], outrageous accusations against celebrity/sports/press acquaintances during their calls to him, etc. Imus does this stuff simply for comedic value; in short, he’s the Don Rickles of talk radio. It’s unbelievably “rich” for a motor-mouth like Al Sharpton to rail against him and demand his dismissal over this. All one need do is search one’s memory—better yet, the internet—for the long list of racially-charged remarks/accusations from folk like Sharpton, Jackson, Farrakhan, etc to quickly conclude that there are, indeed, “two Americas”. Wow—John Edwards was right!

  4. So Rush goes on a rant against stupidity regarding embryonic stem cell research (re. Michael J Fox) he gets toasted.  Imus gets a two week vacation.  Hypocrisy thy name is liberals.

  5. And once again we are back to the Do As I Say - Not As I Do liberal mode. And therein lies the problem - until the black community and people respect themselves and toss the likes of race card mongers Jackson and Sharpton - and embrace the likes of Cosby and Rice, they continue to be liberal hypocrites. But to do that would end the victim status and require them to embrace working, home ownership, marriage and family, education and personal responsibility. And that just isn’t what the liberals, dems and entitlement crowd want at all.

And so it will keep on. Diff in the Rush/Imus - Rush was a white on white (granted making fun of a sick man, oh the horrors of it) and Imus is a white picking on black women - now that’s racist.

  6. The most telling sentence in the whole article comes at the end of that bit the skipper posted.

demanding that the Federal Communications Commission take action against him and radio stations that carry his program.

Now then, why take action against the stations that carry his program?

  7. How much do you wanna bet Imus says “f**k it” after his suspension is up and takes his show to satellite radio?

  8. I’m concerned about the double standard as pointed out by Fine Old Cannibal.  If we are talking about a “standard” by which we are going to condemn or judge someone, the standard has to be applicable across the board.  Once you set a bar higher for one group than you set it for another group, you are DEFINING PREJUDICE!!!  Once you say that “white folk” can’t say this but it is ok for $0.50 (Fifty Cent) to run around talking about HO’s, you are endorsing prejudice.  Bottom line, what Imus said was not the kindest comment.  But as many have pointed out before, you dont’ have a constitutional right NOT to be offended… or to NOT be surrounded by stupid people…
(And as a resident of the Left Coast, capital of Insanity Kalifornia, I AM surrounded by stupid people!!!) mickeymouse

P.S. Skipper - where is the Brasilian Flag on your smiley page?????
