Worried about the consequences 50 years later? What a joke - seems to me - she didn’t want to be branded a tramp and he didn’t want to pay child support. Nothing scandalous about that - just two narcissists, quasi-adults who want their sex but were too self centered to stand up when caught with a bun in the oven. They actually did the World a favor - probably saved the local’s from a hate-filled yob living in a council house.
