  1. Holy crap, that’s almost as big as my cat!

  2. Hey, it’s a rat. A big ‘un granted.

Growing up on the farm, I remember hearing a terrible commotion from the barn. Upon arriving, I found my cat had cornered a rat that was bigger than he was.

Now I knew why we’d been going through chicken feed at such an alarming rate.

I stepped in to help my cat out...no way he could handle that big a rodent. I was worried myself, I was only 16 and this was the biggest rat I’d ever seen. At least as big as the possum I’d skewered last fall.

So, I skewered the rat on the pitchfork, just like I had the possum.

It was easily as big as in the picture. Not a new species at all. A rat is a rat.

  3. Hell, I’ve seen rats almost that size in the alleys of Kenmore Square in Boston, near Fenway Park.

Packs of them will sometimes take a bum, though nobody notices. They’re smart that way too.

  4. A ROUS - Rat Of Unusual Sise.  Were there fire vents in the ground and quicksand pits, too?
