  1. Reminds me of the League of Nations “getting tough” with Mussolini over the Abyssinian invasion.  We all know how much good that did.

Butter knives?  Plastic spoons, more like.

The only real difference between the League and the UN is that the UN cost us a hell of a lot more.  It has to be far and away the most expensive farce in history.  It is past time we washed our hands of the entire miserable outfit.

  2. Skipper I am mystified that we get it, yet our leaders don’t. Tann is right, this harkens back to appeasement in the 30’s. Back then the carnage of First World War was fresh in people’s memory so it is somewhat understandable. Now however I fail to see why we don’t act. What’s it going to take a nuke in the Channel Tunnel? Or a Tel Aviv wiped off the map?

I seriously doubt Israel will put up with this nonsense for much longer. I don’t think we need worry about commiting ground forces. We (well the US really)could blow them into the stone age with air power alone. Or better yet those rods of the gods that Rat Patrol mentioned. We aren’t interested in occupying their shitty country we just want to live in peace and not be threatened by these loons. It would cause chaos on the stock markets but these things recover. If we don’t act they will get their hands on a bomb and they won’t hesitate to use it.

  3. I agree with OCM that we made a classic ‘Intel’ error of listening to folks who told us what they and we wanted to believe.  However I’m delighted to kill terrorists anywhere, anytime.

Remember the scene in ‘Witness’ when the puke confronts Harrison Ford dressed as an Amish?
“Ooooh, I’m scared!”, then he gets his nose broken.  That’s not going to happen here.

In WW2, the EuACropeans waited until they were absolutely certain of Hitler’s intentions.

  4. OCM, I am not sure what ‘assumptions’ this would be based on.  I mean we have several ‘wipe Israel off the map/kill the infidel’ quotes showing intention and an admission of having a ‘nuclear program.’

I agree with Oink.  The only point we are going to be absolutely certain, is when there are 1000’s of dead civilians (women and children) in minutes and then we have a little problem.

I keep hoping Israel will just take care of this.  They seem much less concerned with what the world thinks, when juxtaposed against their own exisistence.

I remember being told when I was growing up a few years ago:  it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of you.  Do the right thing.  No matter the cost.  Stand up to bullies and they will back down.  Are these truths?  Or are we sending our children out armed with quaint little half-truths and nice ideas.

  5. How about these airplanes, OCM?

  6. If the military would spend more time digging around for roadside bombs our troops might be a bit safer.

    wtf

I’ll bet there’s a warm bong somewhere in Colorado.
