I hate to be kind of a downer on this wonderful and happy day (232 years, wow even older than me) but take a moment from the beer, bbq and fireworks (not happening here though, monsoon season hit this am) to remember:
The thousands of US Armed Forces who are not home with family on this Independence Day stationed around the World.
The 4621 wonderful Americans (and their families) who gave all for freedom in the GWOT.
And most especially:
SGT Ahmed Altaie (10/26/06)
SGT Alex Jimenez (05/12/07)
PFC Bryon Fouty (05/12/07)
who are still POWs in Iraq (and their families).
All of these wonderful people are part of the long line of true patriots who have kept our Freedoms and Rights safe, sound and protected - and - Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming - long my she wave - over the land of the Free and the home of the Brave - and of course our wonderful Nation safe, sound (sort of) and protected.
