Hadn’t planned on anything today until I ran across this.  Water Company claims Squatters Rights.

  1. I gather the concept of an easement is beyond the scope of English Law? A corporation has squatter’s rights? Flaming goat onna pole, your nation has utterly lost it’s mind.

You guys need a bigger short bus. Hell, you need a whole fleet of them. We have several dozen in New Orleans for sale. They ought to be dry by now.

Maybe if somebody told the water company that ownership of that land also required them to invest a few hundred million to repair the church next door, using only proper 11th century building methods and guild members ...

And Wessex Water is the sewage company? What a misnomer. Who provides the actual water, ShitCo?

  2. Well this just goes to show:  You can’t do ANYONE any favors under a government system like that, lest you lose, and lose LARGE.

Oh, you want access to my land, because you’re a public utility?  BUY IT or piss off.  I’m required by law to give you access?  Yeah, let’s tangle in the courts and see how that goes.  I’m going to fight you every step of the way and make your life a living hell, then I’m going to make the leasing paperwork so arduous, so nasty, and I’m going to delay so much you’re going to wish you’d set up in the next county over.  I am your worst fucking nightmare, I will use bureaucracy to FIGHT bureaucracy - the more insane sounding the regulations I use to throw a spanner in the works, THE BETTER.

Not because I can, but because SHIT LIKE THIS COMPELS ME TO.

  4. So they are Pumping Sewage and you must give them access to the Pumping Station.
Is there Electrical service to the Pumping Station or do they power the pumping with Generators?
Were the Proper Permits Issued for the Electrical service or Construction?
Are there any Arcane Ordinances that might be Exploited?
What would happen if the Pumping Stopped?
    Who would be Liable?
A Band of Marauding Gypsies Broke in and Damaged Pipes, Valves and Pumps?
