  1. So, as a professional armed Security Guard I did a little web-surfing to get a better “heads-up” on these things. A number of sites have basically that same video. We were briefed on them, oh, a good year and a half ago, but it wasn’t a “public consumption item” as far as everybody and their chicken knowledge. Now, watching the video, you COULD make a single shot in that device but not a repeater. Why? Barrel alignment to chamber area. One shot yeah, four no. But there are “pen guns” of various forms that are really cool. Single shot for the same obvious reason. The multi-shot phone version could, in theory, fire one actual bullet cartridge and three tear gas cartridges, but not four bullets. Only way that would work would be four barrels, straight out the top. Of course, that’s just me being around firearms for the last 45 years talking. confused

  2. I think it’s possible CM, but perhaps not as they describe it. A multi-barreled little derringer design would do it. With .22LR you could drill at least 4 short barrels in a steel block small enough to fit in a cell phone case. I’d make a simple break action mechanism that cocked 4 firing pins on opening, and a simple lever arrangement so that a row of buttons on the phone pad fired each barrel. A flat steelhasp on the back of the phone would hold it closed, or a sliding dovetail like on the one shown.

Another design would use a blowback bolt with either a coil spring inside it or a leaf spring below it. I bet you could make one with a 10 shot magazine. Not sure how the trigger would work, but you could try tiny servos if there wasn’t room for a mechanical mechanism.

And I’m certain that this kind of oddball gun is illegal without a Class III permit in the USA.

  3. That’s pretty much what I said. Great minds think alike. 4 barrels, one block with 4 holes, so on. Still requires direct forward motion. And, again in theory, you could use electrical ignition. Some of the HORRENDOUSLY expensive target rifles do that by capacitor ignition across the primer compound area.

  4. I didn’t notice before but what CM says might well be true.  Really looking at the still break away picture, I wondered, not having the knowledge you guys do, I wondered hey. What advances the bullet? I mean, there they are all in a row, but they now look static to me.  So then, how’d he get the demo to fire in the video, four times?

  5. I don’t think the demo was real past the first shot. I think it had added sound effects.

  6. I can see the police’s concern.... A .22 really isn’t a defensive round.  Too small.

...but it’s a perferct assasination round, used for many years by mafioso and intelligence communities as a ‘contact the back of the head and pull the trigger’ method of taking out a targeted individual.

  7. Proper Bullet placement for assassinations when using a .22 is behind the Ear.
Otherwise it might just glance off the Skull.
However, there is a Local guy here that is a Beekeeper,
he says to fill the Hollowpoint with bee venom and seal with wax.
Then bullet placement is not really an issue.

  8. Swedey, would you also want to use CCI “Stinger” ammo?? wink

  9. I thought the old mafioso technique was to fill ‘em with garlic....

    wink

  10. Mercury works. As would Cyanide, arsenic, or ricin.

  11. In point of fact, mercury does not work.  Mercury forms an amalgam with lead, in effect being absorbed into the lead.  It also softens the lead.  I’ve heard the Mafia legend regarding garlic as a death enhancer, but I don’t know of any data verifying the legend.

I’ve seen information on some form of cell phone gun.  That particular version was a four shooter - four separate barrels and firing pins - in either .22 long rifle or .32 ACP.  As I recall, it was smooth bore.  Yes, it would fire four shots sequencially.  Presuming the mechanism doesn’t malfunction.  Reloading requires partial disassembly.

Yes, this particular weapon is considered an “Any Other Weapon” under the U. S. National Firearms Act of 1934.  When I become emperor, I’ll repeal that.

  12. No, I think it can be done.. no one says it has to be accurate past a few feet. I think the top block may be a .5 inch thick by 2 inch wide by 1.5 inch block of steel painted, or plastic coated to look like the top half of a phone.
Even with 1.5 inch long barrels, it would be a practical stealth weapon. You don’t need a lot of range with the chores one would use with a weapon like this, such as sticking it on someone’s belly or chin and firing all 4 rounds in quick succession.
As for the video, I believe it may be accurate. The man is obviously cocking it, and there’s no reason why it wouldn’t with a basic trigger action. It could probably be manufactured out of a realistic toy, or an older floor sample.

    Just a thought
