Gridlock

  1. A couple of thoughts:

    1) While these blowhards are accomplishing nothing, the end effect is good for us taxpayers.  Tie them up with crap like this and they will have less time to do things that really screw us over.

    2) The bane of modern politics is the TV camera.  These idiots all strive to have the camera on them so they can make their idiotic statements.  They live for the media moment.

    3) At the same time (strangely, to be sure), the cameras are good for us, since we can see them for the idiots that they are, and adjust our votes and nasty letters accordingly.

Well, the dims keep saying that the public wanted change.  It’s not for the better, but we are getting change.

  2. Uh, whoa, wait a minute didn’t these lunatics win an overwhelming majority? I mean I read it in the newspaper - so it had to be true. If they have an overwhelming majority and the majority of American people (and the Military) are so against evilbushitlerburtonco’s evil Iraq Civil War of Occupation, then this should have been a binding resolution and it should have flown through without a problem.

Oh, the horror of it - the msm lies, the dnc does not have an overwhelming majority, there still is support of the Iraq War and these people are just plain evil. At least they aren’t raising our taxes.

    God Help America.

  3. You mean, At least they aren’t raising our taxes YET.  Give them time.  When they lull and bore the majority of the country into a oblivious state, then they will raise taxes and hope we don’t notice.

  4. I just went to find a Senate vote (2003) - you should read some of the meaningless (i.e. probably earmark to someone cozy at home) and trivial legislation these morons waste time and money on.

Of course I think all this pointless Iraq Civil War of Occupation legislation and investigations are in that venue too.

Yes, I know, the ultimate goal of the dnc ‘overwhelming majority’ is to raise taxes. It’s coming - however since these loons have kicked off the ‘08 election on Nov 9th - perhaps they just might not get to vote on tax hikes - too afraid to have their name on legislation to raise taxes just before primarys and an election.

    We can only hope.

  5. Republicans on Monday blocked Senate debate on a bipartisan resolution

Notice how it was a bipartisan resolution because a couple Republicans supported it, but it was blocked only by Republicans even though a couple Democrats voted against it.  Subtle but there.

Taxes will be raised simply because there are enough people not coming up for reelection in 2008.  Enough of them won’t be worrying about what they attach their names on to until a year before their time comes up.  Then they can rely on your average American’s amazingly short attention span.

  6. Every member of the house of representatives is up for re-election in 2008, and since all revenue bills are constitutionally supposed to start there, the names will be on them.  Elliot, you are exactly right about the short attention span.  I feel one of the reasons it is short is because our politicians, along with the complicit media, fill our heads with meaningless and useless drivel on a daily basis.  Being able to remember the important stuff is difficult at best when it is being driven out by the crap that is being force fed to us.

  7. ”...no man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the Legislature is in session.”—Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens).

I like gridlock.  Gridlock is good.
