You know what’s gonna happen next? The mainstream media’s going to try to boost Hilary’s campaign by giving the Clinton administration credit for this.
Just you watch.
...and it’s all George Bush’s fault.
Has it occured to anyone that IF the climate is changing, instead of trying to stop the change, we’d be better off figuring out how we’re going to cope with it? I’m with the group that says the climate changes from time to time whether mankind is here or not. If there’s gonna be change, deal with it. Don’t run around like a headless chicken and shut down the industries that can save your tail when the climate changes.
All the environmentalists seem to have a major theme - man’s works are bad, we must stop them. With something over 6 billion people on the planet, shutting down or even seriously impeding industry is going to result in a lot of deaths. I like eating well and I like flush toilets. The other 6 billion people like their food and shelter too, in fact, most of them probably want better food and shelter than they’ve got. The only way to truly lessen man’s impact on the planet is to seriously reduce the population - not going to happen.
When I was imprisioned in the public school system during the 70’s, all my science textbooks talked up the coming “New Ice Age”. Then in the 80’s “Global Warming” became dogma. Now are the glaciers really coming back? Flip a coin…
Great point as always, Dr. Jeff. I concur completely.
Until we can gain control of the Sun itself, the rest is moot. Just follow sunspot cycles and climatological data, they do correlate very neatly. THe “Little Ica Age” peaked during the “Maunder Minimum” of extremely low sunspot activity. Toss in a few large volcanic eruptions like Tambora in 1815, and 1816 was “the year without a summer”.
Global warming, , we are simply still emerging from this “little ice age”.
Yes Dr. Jeff is right on, but for all those of communist, socialist and other ‘for the greater good’ groups - screaming on the chicken little issue of the day is the way they keep taxes high (and hopefully raise them even more), so that they can redistribute the wealth with a pitanence going to the truly needy and the rest going back into their pockets as they sit on the boards/companies that are profitteering from their made up chicken little issue of the day.
I believe, if you truly believe in global warming - great, contribute to the cause and do whatever you want to ‘prevent’ it. If you don’t, then don’t. Take care of all aspects of the earth and it’s humans, but not over do it nor force anyone else to pay for your scam. Food, clean water and clean air and appropriate shelter are truly all we need to survive. We all need to take care of the planet and each other, because anything else puts all in jeopardy.
Is it going to happen tomorrow, ten years from now, an instant or an eternity? I’m not God - don’t know the answer. And really, question those who claim to.
The other thing that some of these groups miss, is not only can technology be ‘not bad’ it can actually ‘be good!’ and further humanity. (i.e., because of my gas guzzling suburban, I am able to haul around my foster children. The room in my heart is restricted by the room in my vehicle. I knew a foster mommy that bought a new expedition, just for the express purpose of having one more seat in order to care for one more baby. She is working on adopting number 5 and 6 special needs toddlers.)
Of course, most of these types really, really, really hate people and the fact that they proliferate. Therefore, anything that helps people is BAAAAAAAAD! Honestly they would be happier if people like me would give up the tools that help us to care for needy children and let the children suffer. After all, suffering is the only thing we humans deserve! Not like those WONDERFUL animals.
