  3. Frankly, nobody should be terribly surprised; it has long been the M.O. of liberals to gather up their marbles and head for home all in a huff when they feel even modestly insulted or when they just don’t see the game being played by their rules.  Class dismissed.

  5. Jeepers, OCM, get a grip!!

I got mad some months back about attacks on public school teachers, but I just signed off for a while.

It’s not like this stuff is life and death!!  I thought we were supposed to be having fun with all this!!

    Lighten up folks!!

  6. Typical liberal cry baby antics.  Attack when you have no argument.

  7. What IS the point of all of this?
    I mean, really.

  8. Well I don’t know anyone here that well but, for anyone to flip like that and then blame somebody else for their malfunction is certainly going to have more issues then wwhat goes on arond here or any other blog. Sorry to see anyone leave under normal circumstances but in this case I’m wondering if sheding a tear is really worth all that much trouble?

  9. I think you two both need to get laid!

come to think of it.. I need to get laid too..  hell we all need to get laid!

you know the saying.. a day without doggiestyle is, well a day without doggiestyle

and after a while it certainly makes me get all machinegun  2gunsfiring  punching  uzi  argument  ‘n shit…

so my sage advise.. go out and get some!!!

  10. I just don’t understand some folks. Surely we can agree to disagree, or at least abuse each other with artistic elan and humor? This whole thing draws a big “huh??” from me. I know I miss some of those who have been cut from this blog, but I can’t say I will miss their base verbiage.

I used to work with a young man who seemed to have almost a one word vocabulary. That one F word served as noun, verb, and adjective. It did get rather tiring; he’d use it about 200 times an hour. After a few months of it I asked him politely if he couldn’t find a more professional manner of communicating. He was incensed at the nerve of my request! Somehow or other he didn’t make it past the next employee review session.

Funny isn’t it, in this day and age with its extreme political correctness, when even looking at someone “different” in the “wrong” way can get you censured or fired, that we accept such rampant, constant use of vulgarities.

And don’t go getting the idea that I’m a prissy uptight stiff. Not the case at all; I just have a few latent chivalrous characteristics: don’t act boorish in front of the ladies, don’t be low class in front of your boss, and never be the lowest common denominator in any situation.

  14. Liberal has nothing to do with it.
OCM is more of an independent.
I’m going to miss him-just like I miss Dottie.
    Yeah. I liked Dottie.
    I like Allan too.
    I basically like EVERYONE here.
And As one of the longer members here I’m tired of the “civil war” eruptions every few months. This is supposed to be a fun, witty ,informative place.
Constant “rows” that cause a blogfriend or two to leave-or get banned-aren’t fun-they’re depressing.
    This BS needs to stop.

  15. Just ban the whole damned lot of us and be done with it. Your blog will be a lot more peacefull then.

Posted by Yellow Dog    United States   04/10/2006  at  07:03 PM

  16. No, this might be Skip’s blog, but, like the illegals marching in downtown Seattle right this moment, we should DEMAND that Skip let this be OUR blog! Viva la blogolution! No banning no matter what!

    Peace!
    No war!

  17. Maybe it was the stress that OCM put himself through over the Iraq war that finally drove him over the edge. He never missed the chance to tout his “pacifism at all costs” philosophy here amongst us military, ex-military, and military family people. I still remember the little monkey stomping some of us gave him over it.

    Vae Victus, OCM.

  19. I’m tired of people acting worse then 10 year olds- When will it end?

There is no give and take with some folks today, no rational discussion.

  21. I knew the Skipper would never ban OCM.  Thank God he left.  He was a creep.

He will probably come back.  I remember the first time he came back.

Everybody loved it when he came back tongue

  22. Folks, this whole business just doens’t make a lot of sense and it sure is uncomfortable to be around.  The only certain thing is that Skipper and OCM are pretty upset, especially OCM.

I am a little curious about the previously departed.  Can anyone clue me in (without the 2x4 please)?

My G-d, I’m the one who called the Skipper a liberal!

    wtf

  23. I didn’t know he’s a Marine’s father, BobF. I’m glad you pointed that out. Maybe OCM’s son/daughter joined the corps against his/her father’s will. It’s certainly not unheard of amongst the grownup sons and daughters of the Flower Power generation.

    hmmm

  25. Skipper it’s your blog, your rules. As to OCM.... Life goes on we are all expendable, and replacable. Keep up the good fight! There needs to be folks willing to step up and raise the “BS” flag.......... big_us_flag

  26. Some time back, I got into an argument with OCM. It was right after his car/truck wreck and he was maybe just messed up on pain, pain meds, life’s curve balls, etc. Anyway, that whole fracas went away, he was never the Guy to forgive anyone for much, seemed to hold too many grudges or something.

That all went down the road, and I still visit to see what goes here.

Those that have left are doing their own things -

Dottie - Never actually knew she left.
Vilmar - Well, what can we say? I still read him now and then.
    Oink? You still here?
Anyway, the point is this, we are just people who pass by, say hello and go our own ways. Don’t get too hung up on the blog thing, it’s nature is transitory anyway.

Now, for the defining question of this generation, can Islam and all the other major religions of the world coexist equally or must one of them be the sole controlling entity?

    “Second Skin
    (Widespread Panic/Jerry Joseph)

    This is the season
    These are the waking days
Tear off your wet sheets baby
Step out in the Soft Parade
    Hollowed and glisten
Like sweat on a moving train
    Baby, just listen
I’m about to be born again

    Come down
    This is your second skin
    Surround
    This is your second skin
    This is your love inside
This is your fear you hide away

    Maybe it’s a burden
    Or maybe it’s nature’s gift
Feel the stretch and the burn
All the colors you’re working with
    This moment
    Maybe it’s time to choose
    Real life is dreaming
    Nothing but skin to lose

    Come down
    This is your second skin
    Surround
    This is your second skin
    This is your love inside
Brought out into the light today

    Now this is a story
    Maybe it’s real
    Maybe you glisten
    Maybe time is still
    This is a clean air
These are the shades we’re in
    Real life is dreaming
    This is your second skin

    Come down
    This is your second skin
    Surround
    This is your second skin
    This is your love inside
This is your pride you hide away

    Come down
    This is your second skin
    Surround
    This is your second skin
    This is fear and pride
Brought out into the light today”

  27. I know what you mean about things being uncomfortable. I seems like OCM has gotten incensed over everything lately. Maybe when he’s had a while to cool off he’ll realize that he really hasn’t made a rational argument about any subject in a while.

It is the Skippers blog and he has the ultimate say over who can and can’t participate. It’s not a democracy, it’s a benevolent dictatorship!

Posted by Punkins    United States   04/10/2006  at  11:37 PM

  28. Remember children, this is supposed to be fun.  When you start to take it too seriously it’s time for a “time-out”.

Posted by MAJ Mike    United States   04/11/2006  at  06:33 AM

  29. Phobos: If you remember correctly, when OCM came back the Skipper posted the BushHitler crap that was on his blog - HERE, remember question

Sure we got OCM to admit he was disgusted with being in the Democratic Party.  Sure his blog now has nicer photos.  But he is still a creep sometimes.  I bet he comes back.

Who wants to be in charge of what anybody says question

//COQ: A lot of people came out of the theaters scratching their heads.

Zappa: Well, they come out of concerts the same way, but at least I’ve given them the chance to go in and see something that will allow them to scratch their heads instead of letting them sit in front of a television set and scratch their balls and know in advance what everybody is going to say and what everybody is going to do.//

  30. Sad that it has to come to this. OCM is an irascible chap but he can be very entertaining. However there’s no need for personal invective. Phobos and Maj Mike well said!

  31. OCM is a quitter LyndonB. Winston Churchill told the graduating class of his old prep school, “Never, never, never give up!”

LyndonB, is Bob your uncle? uk_flag

Posted by The Skipper    United States   04/11/2006  at  11:16 AM

  33. Ok I actually get busy for a few and miss a real down and dirty

    punching

But one day when I’m bored, I will go to see what went on.

I agree with so much posted here - it is Skipper’s blog to do with as he pleases. I’d set up my own blog, but I’m a techno-idiot (although not as bad as the intern who ran out of typing paper and when told to use the photo copier paper - went and ran 5 blank copies of paper
    crazy

and the other reason is that I know I’m opinionated and really very narrow on many issues - doubt that there are many who would do anything beyond calling me all the names, I’ve already been called over and over and over again.

So instead, I come here and a couple of military groups, where I know I will be called nasty things only once in a while.

I’ve always thought that America was about expressing one’s opinions, reaching an agreeable compromise and going on with the business of being the greatest human experiment in history while being one of the most pleasant places in which to reside. What happened, lately it seems like if you don’t believe as I do, you are a ______________and don’t deserve to speak.

    Such a shame
    I will miss OCM.

  34. Damn, I’m out of town and away from BMEWS for a few days and come back and read about all this!  wtf happened to start all this BS?  While I didn’t agree with OCM very often, he was always entertaining, as was his back and forth with OINK.  This is always an entertaining and insightful blog with some great humor, some dry, some not so dry; c’mon guys, let’s not get so uptight and easily offended that we resemble a lib blogspot!  God gave birds feathers for reasons other than to get ruffled.  And what happened to Dottie?

The number of people who thought Hitler was right, did not make him right.” FRANK ZAPPA......

List your rules. If they are changing, I will decide if I stay.  That’s the nice thing about America, all this freedom.  Or Ban me, who really cares!!

I think it was the math post that got YOU upset.

  37. Just because I disagreed with OCM on many, many issues didn’t make me stop liking him.  I thought he was mostly pretty funny.  I thought he added a lot to the discourse and I will miss him.  Take care Old Man....

Posted by Beccayinn    United States   04/11/2006  at  12:37 PM

  38. NOOOOO this would not be the same place without OCM, get your ass back here NOW angry

Posted by bulldog    United Kingdom   04/11/2006  at  01:07 PM

  39. I am hardly one of the regulars here, but one of the things I’ve always liked about BMEWS is that a certain level of discourse and civility is required. Gratuitous insults and obscenity are a rarity. While either may be funny once in a while, a steady barrage of “trash talk” isn’t worth my time. This is Allan’s blog and his rules apply. Those who cannot abide, go start your own blog and run it according to your own lights.

Posted by markmc    United States   04/11/2006  at  01:22 PM

  40. Ah Jester how nice
    red face

Actually if you want to really get down and dirty - go to an abortion discussion/chat/blog. Man, oh man - that got me off the InterNet for quite a while, a person can only take so much of the threats and nastiness. And breastfeeding is not far behind - you guys just don’t know how truly nasty women can be to each other.

Now having said that, I have enjoyed this blog and the discussions. I love thoughtful debate and I am more than willing to venture over to the other side - if it will help me to understand the full topic/issue.

As I said, I will miss OCM.

Posted by wardmama4    United States   04/11/2006  at  02:43 PM

  41. I won’t miss OCM saying the Medicare Rx Bill has too many choices with capitalism.

If OCM wants just one choice so his crusty mind won’t need to decide anything he should move to Cuba where the choices are limited.  Maybe OCM needed just one choice when he purchased his brand new red Toyota truck .

I don’t remember OCM saying that there where toooo many colors in trucks to choose from.  He liked the fact that that he had choices in colors in trucks.  But in prescriptions drug coverage in Medicare, that the President promised then delivered, OCM was pissed that he had to decide which insurance company to get.

Too many options and choices is not bad.  Move to England if you want limited choices in health care.  In Europe you won’t need to make many choices.
