1. Yes, it SHOULD end his political career.

   But it won’t.

   Everyone from John Stewart to SNL to MSNBC will laugh it off as a ‘cute prank’
   and then go back to screaming at President Bush for tapping the phone lines
   and email of known terrorists.

   ...and the song remains the same…

2. TimO, I am afraid you are right. I mentioned this story to several non-internet people tonight. All folks I think are Conservatives. (this being NJ, you don’t just go and ask someone. It’s risky coming out of the Red State Closet here) None of them even knew SP’s email had been hacked. I told them about it, then told them who the likely culprit was. Every single one of them immediately said almost exactly what you just said.

   The rules are unidirectional. If this had been the other way around, even if it was done by the janitor who worked for a 2nd cousin of the son of ANY elected Republican it would have cost McCain the election.
