I’ve been to GITMO, many years ago, and I assure you that’s high living there.
Throw in broadband and I’m ready to move there.
Dunno, OCM. I’m more concerned whether there’s grass on the golf course now or not. When I was there it was all rock and coral. Grass only on the tees and the putting greens. The longest shot I hit one day bounced off a rock and came most of the way back to me. Tanks were also a hazard of the course. I think the Marines were using ‘em as golf carts. Anyway they play through, no problem.
I’d still recommend renting clubs.
If they are “no longer a threat to the US”, why should US citizens support them?!

I doubt if they’re getting women on the base. The base is surrounded by minefields, theirs and ours, I think. A couple of fences too. I did read about some Cuban civilian workers who lived in Cuba and worked on the base. I dunno if they’re still doing it though. Probably retired by now.
You are correct SK. There were 2 fences. Theirs and ours, with mines between. I have flown “fence patrol” in an SH-3A/B when the ship was down for O.R. tests. (damn near every spring!)
There were a few local civilians who came thru each day to work. They were also paid in USD. I would imagine that they made enough to retire now though. Don’t know if anyone took their places or not.Damn good name for the camp me thinks. Fill it up with the lizards and snakes!!!
Cuba has a goodly supply of venemous snakes and big crocodiles, caymans, etc. Let those sandfleas tangle with the local herpetofauna…
