  1. What is with Florida?  Does it just hang onto our country like a little limp dick or something?  Virginia has had this rule for ages.

Sorry for the rude analogy, but it seems fitting.

  3. OCM:

Depending how long you were married while in the service, and the desgression of the judge at the time of the divorce, the spouse (it could in theory go to the husband if the wife was the military member) can get up to 50% of the retired pay...this includes desability pay as well.

There was a kernal of a good idea here, as a number of military personnel were getting divorced and leaving their ex’s with nothing...and as it used to be the case that the spouse was usually not employed due to the constant changing of duty stations-going where ever the husband was stationed, there was some justification there (assuming the spouse was not the one *at fault* in the divorce).  She was expecting her husband to get a civilian job and have the military pension as well, for them to have (finally) some sort of new life with roots being put down. In most cases, she would be left with little or nothing.  But as is the case when the feds get their mitts on things...they screwed this up too.

  4. yep, that is one thing that ain’t going to change, unless either of us came up with tons o money ™ which would make any legal action a moot point anyhow.  And as I said, it could have been much worse...she could have gotten 50%.  Ahhhh well...such is life.
