  1. While I have always objected to the ‘discovery’ aspect of the Columbus part of American history [I disagree with the implication that the America’s were uninhabited or that the indigenous peoples were just standing around doing nothing with their lives, culture, land and societies UNTIL the vaulted white man came and directed them unto the right ‘path’ to civilization; rant over] I am however thoroughly disgusted with the new implication that the white races are the only evil, destructive and bad people of the world.

Don’t fear though - my daughters are both training to become history teachers to right the wrongs of American schools - neither one will back down or cowtow to pc-ness. Believe me, in the past year we have been called activists, opinionated and to ‘give it a rest’ more times than I care. Since when did the truth, reality and a love of country become activism, a wrong opinion and not worth expressing? Oh yeah, when the lunatic left started taking over the dnc and evil bushitlerburtonco won the WH.

To these pc police re-writing American history - try reading the bible, torah or koran [or if you can’t stomach a religious text, Roman or Greek history texts] it is human nature to be cruel, wanting power and to indulge in ‘bad’ behaviors - that is what religions, laws and governments are for - to impose social order/civilization on the human ‘animals’.

  2. The PC falsification and distortion of history is second (but not too distant a second) only to the twistifications of Stalin and company (their spiritual forefathers).

    cool hmm

  3. And speaking of exploring the New World, I wonder what turn history would have taken, had all (instead of only roughly a third) of Cortes’ men had managed to get themselves sacrificed atop the bloody pyramids of Tenochtitlan.

Of course, the PC version likely involves rooftop coffee klatches in celebration of diversity, or some such crap.

    cool smirk

  4. Errata:  “had all” above should have been “if all.”

Editing under time pressure, sorry about that....

    LOL

  5. I’ll put my money on Saint Brendan or Leif Ericson as getting here first. Cristobal Colombo was an Italian Captain, sailing a fleet of Spanish ships (The Nina, the Pinto and the Yago Sangria) from Portugal, looking for a shortcut to China, thought he got sidetracked to India, but actually landed in the Bahamas. Must have forgotten to use his GPS unit… Wrong-way Corrigan had nothing on Colombo.
