  1. Ah the joys of the “single european market” otherwise known as the federalist lunatics plan to take on the United States! Well it makes a change from British tobacco smugglers bringing back cheap cigarettes from Belgium. The EU told the British treasury that British Customs were overstepping the mark when they tried to stop these scumbags (most of whom are on benefits) from buying cheap tobacco in Belgium and bringing it back to sell in Britain and thereby avoiding the (admittedly outrageously high) tax on cigarettes in Britain. The British government humiliatingly had to give in as it always does when the European court threatens us. Customs now have to allow people to bring back up to 3200 cigarettes as this is considered a reasonable quantity. These clowns go back and forth every week. How many people do you know that can smoke 22 packs of cigarettes a day? (and still be alive)

Extracted from an article in The Telegraph today was this interesting snippet.....

the French government announced that it would take steps to shield “sensitive” sectors from foreign takeovers These include defence, biotechnology, space technology, telecommunications, encryption, IT security and casinos The necessary decree for their protection was published on New Year’s Eve. The following month, the government expressed its strong opposition to Lakshmi Mittal’s bid for Arcelor, the Luxembourg-based steel company, which has about 26,000 employees in France. And now it has blocked an attempt by Enel of Italy to take over the power and water group Suez by orchestrating its merger with the state-owned Gaz de France.

You see they want some of the free market, but only so long as it’s good for France, or Poland or Spain depending on where your vested interest lies.
Personally I find this deeply gratifying, the sooner the whole rotten edifice collpses the better. This example of Belgium shows what a joke the whole thing is. The Dutch are powerless to prevent it as they have signed their sovereignty away to an unelected bunch of crooks. They (the EU) can’t even make up their minds where they should have their parliament. Brussels for half the year and Strasbourg for the other half (to appease the Fwench) they haven’t even signed off the accounts for ten years. Lets hope this wakes people up to what is going on in europe.

  2. I asked a Michigan resident how they prevented similar chicanery, since MI has similar large deposits. (I do not blame them, with tourism so important, and me having to clean up in front of my property daily because of White Trash, Incest-Procreated Weed Monkeys.**)

She said the cans/bottles are barcode scanned to determine Point of Sale.  How hard is that?

** Their Drink-Of-Choice is ‘Mountain Dew—How Appropriate in the Old Tyme Kentucky sense.
Dac, boy, you’re just a WhipperSnapper—too young to buy Booze… don’t you ever get tired of its taste? grin
