  1. Your comment would never make it through the filters at eBay, and rightfully so.

I agree with Peiper that hiding evil hateful ideas and things associated with them may actually add to their fascination. Even if those ideas and things aren’t actually evil or hateful but have just acquired that patina by nanny-staters and other leftists. Firearms are a superb example; children who have grown up around them understand them and use them properly, while those who have had the All Guns Bad meme beaten into them are hypnotically attracted to them and have no respect for their capabilities.

Going off topic to paraphrase the Klan’s observation, which may have also been Peiper’s observation at one point, does not further the race dialogue. It only shows that this blog does not use auto-filtering as eBay does. And it is only very very slightly germane to the whole giant subject/question of “should we hide what people find offensive?”. As much as we appreciate your leadership in pointing out by example things that offend people, such a segue was not necessary here.

Good for eBay, that they were willing to give the board game another look. Maybe it was a bit of press that motivated them, maybe it was an email. But it shows that they can re-examine things in context and be reasonable, even in a socialist nanny-state like the UK.

  2. Latest bit of lunacy from the UK, a Labour MP shows he is a total wimp by moaning about firm handshakes.

  3. If my job was to find offensive items or cereal or books or any other damn thing wherever I could and my paycheck was dependent on it I surely would do my best to make the case any and every time. This is how that systen works. Its called a vested interest and we all know how that works.See EPA,DEQ,Greenpeace etc,,,,,,,,,,

Commenting is not available in this weblog entry.

Next entry: I think I have invented a new position here at BMEWS. An Anger Desk. Yeah. That's me ok.

Previous entry: Just another thing to get pointlessly pissed off about.
