Just another thing to get pointlessly pissed off about.

  1. The proper response is simple:  Stop using eBay and find an online auction company whose policies on offensive items aren’t such a morass of self-contradicting bullshit.  (For those interested:  eBay UK Offensive Material Policy)

And why the hell is an auction service trying to determine what is offensive and what isn’t?  Offense is in the mind of the offended, and someone offended by something for sale shouldn’t buy the damned thing.  Too easy.

  2. OCM, there is sensitive, and then there is asinine. This move by eBay seems to be in the latter camp. So do comments that go off topic just to be offensive.

eBay gets tens or hundreds of thousands of new items every day. The ads that make it through the text filters still have to have their pictures checked to avoid goofs like that classic one with the chrome teakettle. They don’t have time to stop and think.

Maybe they should have a sub-site called eBanned where all the things they don’t like go to be sold. But eBay is a private company, even though it’s a worldwide phenomena, so it’s their choice.

  3. You can’t see the obvious, that your remark about your racism has nothing at all to do with this post? Trying to hijack the thread, or are you just enjoying being disruptive like a 12 year old? So yeah, asinine seems to fit.

  4. Hey Drew, first. Real important stuff.  Thru rain and sno and hail and hi winds I walked the mile or more to the darn PO to snail mail stuff. OK, I lied about all that and got a ride. But I did mail some things.  The more we have to use the little PO in the next damn village the more we hate this candy assed govt. Oh yeah, it was cold but sunny.

OK ... you said eBay was a private company.  When did that happen? I mean, did they take it private after having been listed for so long?  We haven’t been watching them for a very long time and haven’t even bothered looking for a ticker or price. So I was surprised to see you say they were private.

I just read something that has me worked up again. Can’t get away from the lunacy. This time the health Nazis which I know we have at home as well. Gloom.
