  8. Oink, that’s the difference between you and me. I genuinely like both of these old farts. They each have their good points and their faults. The only side I take is ... my own. He who disturbs my piece of mind shall be driven forth.

And that’s all I’m gonna say about that.

I walked the St. Louis Half-Marathon today with a time of 3hrs and 1 min.(fast for a walker)-and raised $165.00 for the USO.

  10. You get a swift and silent salute from me, Skipper!

And a big WAY TO GO, ALT!  I would love to do a marathon (or 1/2) sometime.  I lost my mind 2 years ago and did a triathlon.  It was the most amazing thing ever!  Well, almost the most amazing thing......I would do it again in a minute!

  11. everything is pretty tame in the comments compared to what goes on at the Forum I Admin here in Lefty Land.. and the local Newspaper’s Forum failure, which the only way the memebers know to keep it active is by bringing stuff from our forum to it or about 1 of the members at our forum..  But good for you for putting the foot Down.. anybody who feels like debating with some lefties at the forum I admin for the local talk Show is welcome to add it to their places to visit… it’s at the link I have by my name.. Woops Blatant plug...sorry..BMEWS is a great place to visit and I am here at least a couple times a day to catch up..

  13. Pay no attention to those minor annoyances, Skipper. Check out this guy instead!!

  15. Reminds me of the phrase attributed to Teddy Roosevelt “speak softly and carry a big stick and you will go far” though I believe he himself stated it was a West African proverb. Sound advice anyway.

Skipper some times you have to wield the cluebat with great vengeance and furious anger!

  16. I certainly agree with your rules—specially the excess profanity and personal abuse.  Altho I occasionally use “R rated” language, I don’t carry it to extremes and mostly use “** & xx” for part of the words.  I note that the main offender in this regard hasn’t been around here recently.  In the Marine Corps, really top-notch harassment and abuse is considered an art form, savored and appreciated by both the giver and receiver.

I apologize for the times I’ve been guilty.  And I state again to the people who’ve emailed me worrying that they’ve hurt my feelings—I’ll let you know clearly if you’ve crossed the line. And it’s never happened. An Old Pig on a Moonbat Blog is fair game.

My only disagreement is that OCM is seldom the initiator of the insult or brawl.

  17. Hey Skipper, I hope you where not thinking of me in your rant. I have to respond to OCM when he goes off the deep end.  punching

  18. It’s kinda like having the proverbial “drunken uncle” in the family, the one who needs the occasional “course correction” and “attitude adjustment” in order to not become permanently banished from future fambly gatherings.  beerparty

  19. Just have to say-
OCM does have a good heart
He also uses profanity- whoop deeeee do, so do others, including the Skipper.
I concur with Oink- OCM has SELDOM been the initiator of the insults that turn into brawls.
Do I agree with everything everyone says here? NO, yet, I do find it interesting, and a learning experience to read what others have to say in regards to the topic on point- THAT is what makes for a good debate- when people can stay on point, without making it personal, without going off on some rant. Anymore, when that happens- I pretty much tune the person out.
If I disagree with someones viewpoint do I call them names and rant at them? NO- I learned in KinderG. to play well with others.Taking up for oneself is a good thing,so yes, I have disturbed right back when I have been disturbed. Did I ever start it? Absolutely not, yet, I will never just sit by and let anyone abuse me , be it with words, deed, or action.Turning the other cheek does not always work. Nothing on God’s green earth is going to stop me from taking up for myself when wronged. When all else fails,I pray to the Goddess Ignora to strike silent the fontus ignoramus that disturbs my peace.
    That is all.

  20. I need to quietly stand by Oink and ED on this one.  I think Skipper is right in not putting up with personal attacks, but I have noticed that ED and some of the other women have to ‘ignore’ a lot of creepiness about how they do or don’t look from certain posters.  And that creepiness seems designed expressly for provoking.  So, far she is doing really well at the altar of Ignora.  Were that ickiness addressed to me....I might be where OCM is now.

(I almost hate to even mention it.  Everyone seems to be on the same page about ignoring the ignorance.  But, when someone new stops by....)

  21. Becca, imagine how nerve-wracking it is for me to sit here and try to maintain some kind of order and sanity with all these “different” personalities. If I let everyone do and say what they want, all kinds of fights and arguments break out. If I try to moderate and separate squabbling parties or ask someone to tone it down, I get reamed out like OCM did.

Some days I just can’t win.

Posted by The Skipper    United States   04/11/2006  at  12:52 PM

  22. Awwwwwww, c’mon now.  (I’m trying to affect my best sultry/pouty expression)

Honestly, honestly, honestly I understand and I am very appreciative of a very fun and informative place to discuss/rant/laugh about the days happenings.  You can’t make everyone happy, so don’t try!  Set the rules you feel are fair.  IMHO, you have done that. So relax.

Maybe you should have some rum.  I’ll have some, too.  Then you can shoot Oink again!  That always makes you feel better.

Posted by Beccayinn    United States   04/11/2006  at  01:01 PM

  23. Oh alright, Becca. You win. I’ll quit whining. As soon as I get off work, I’ll join you in that drink. It might improve my aim as I stalk the “Wild Boar Of Indiana”.

Be vwewwy qwiet. I’m hunting bowah. uh-hu-uh-huh-uh-uh ...

    LOL
