  1. Problem. Congress hasn’t followed through with the threat to raise the CAFE standards, and haven’t done so in almost 20 years. The only raise in the CAFE from what I understand is in the light truck market, which sells twice as many now as they did back in 1985 when the standards were implemented.

Man I hope this idea doesn’t fly any farther than Californication. I would say the LESSER of these evils would be for the states to make up the shortfall by enacting toll roads....Ugh!

  3. Government is living proof that ‘for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction’

Heard Rush talking about this today and am sorry to say it’s no big surprise.  Just goes to show you how much more government we get in our lives every single day regardless of how ‘good’ we try to be.

Hell, drive what you want, drink what you want, and eat that damn lobster.  You’re gonna get screwed one way or the other.  At least get some enjoyment while it’s happening!

  4. FYI on Point #2

Hybrid cars DO use gasoline.  They have both a gasoline and an electric motor.  The computer shuts off the gas motor when it would normally idle, but restarts it when acceleration is called for.  While the gas motor is running, it charges the batteries that feed the electric motor.
