The one thing we never seem to get from our leaders is anything resembling common sense.
Even G.W. Bush blew it with his methanol from corn program. I can understand using alcohol to extend the oil supply, what I don’t understand is why he chose to add stress to our food supply by mandating corn based ethanol. Methanol works well up to 20% and you can cook it out of all kinds of crap.
Obama on the other hand seems determined to wreck what’s left of our industrial base with expensive and limited energy supplies. He barely pretends to be looking for what will work well.
We need energy to support ourselves. We can produce it from a number of sources, hydro electric, natural gas, solar (getting better), nuclear (much cleaner than it’s reputation), coal and even wind farms. All we have to do is what we know how to do. What we have to stay away from are politically motivated solutions that are unrelated to reality.
I’m sorry but the Dept of Energy needs to be defunded immediately - it is an utter failure in it’s mission to make America energy independent. That ignorant backwoods woman - Sarah Palin - won in the negotiations with ‘big oil’ in AK with the (common sense) - ‘don’t you want to be drilling for oil in the US with it’s strict EPA guidelines, so that you aren’t polluting the air anywhere’. Painted them into a corner that they couldn’t talk their way out of.
Dept of Ed, Dept of Housing (whatever they have changed it to), Dept of Homeland Security (THAT is the Dept of Defense - just an excuse to violate numerous citizen privacy amendments and pay zillions to unaccountable gov unionized workers) and so on - are just ways to funnel tax dollars and abridge the Rights, Freedom and Independence of Americans.
Drill baby, drill - would create energy, jobs and lower gas prices. As would nuclear - which seems to work fine in France. Not to mention coal and so on and so on.
But of course - most Americans are too stupid to even realize that America doesn’t even get most of it’s oil from the ME - that is just too easy to keep the ‘crisis’ mode going on and on and on. In fact in 2011 (last year on the chart) - of the top 10 foreign countries that the US imports oil from only 2 were ME countries. Oh my, Facts are so damn important in fighting these moroons in DC.
Vote ‘em all out - I’m for losing a couple of real decent people to fix the system:
1) Term Limits and every ‘representative’ makes the average of income in his/her district and uses the same (average) of insurance plan in his/her district - they supposedly live there - why should they get a ‘choice’.
2) Any Dept that has failed for the past 10 years to Improve toward their stated mission - eliminated immediately.
3) A line by line review of every single penny spent in Gov - redundancy and base line increases immediately eliminated.
4) Every single Dept., Social Program, and Foreign aid is immediately cut by the same percentage - I’d like 10% for starters - but I will accept lower as a start.
5) Congress meets twice a year for two weeks; all bills stand alone - no food stamps (social program) in the agricultural bill (where they also hide their pay raises) and so on and they must list the Constitutional authority (and not the damn general welfare clause) for each piece of legislation.
6) The Supreme Court Justices serve no more than 25 years and a simple majority - I’d prefer 3 but 5 is ok - no more of ‘stacking’ the Court or changing the rules in mid-game.
7) Get donations down to a maximum of $250.00 per person - and $100.00 per union, non-profit, corporation or other ‘people’ (until that bs is overturned).
and finally
7) Repeal the 16th (Federal Income Tax) - or at worst - a flat tax - no deductions, no loopholes, no exemptions - every person earning any income from $1000.00 to $100,000,000.00 pays the same percentage. Repeal the 17th Amendment - give it back to the States to appoint Senators.Don’t believe the bs told today - Blue Laws have been overturned, the 18th Amendment was Repealed - Nothing is etched into reality except Death - obviously Obama and his ilk have managed to avoid most taxes.
