  1. Hoo Rah,

More overtime fixing software bugs!  Bring it on.
They should change the leap year while they are at it.

  2. Much of the howling seems to be coming from the folks who didn’t realize that there was eventually going to be a year 2000 and resisted the idea into 1999.

Cell phones communicate with their base all the time. There is no reason that the time can’t be adjusted then. I know mine frequently does time checks. Don’t let anyone try to kid you, cell phone companies won’t be giving anything away cheaply.

Oh my, another Windoze update, we all know how rare those are. rolleyes

This is a manufactured tempest in a teapot. Where the hell is the rest of the energy bill that’s been loitering around in Congress for FOUR FREEKIN YEARS?

  3. Fine Old Cannibal you really made me chuckle with that comment. No doubt you were well rewarded for the millenium bug fiasco as well!

Skipper I have not seen this mentioned in Britain (we use British Summer Time) what is the justification for the extension? I remember every few years there is a debate about this in England. We would prefer to have BST (GMT +1) all year round but the “sweaty socks” north of the border (Scotland) are against it as they don’t like getting up in the dark. In my view we (England) should let them keep going back to GMT every year and we can stay on summer time. They will just have to learn to put their clocks back when visiting England.

On a similar topic did you know the Fwench wanted Greenwich Mean Time aka GMT to be renamed Universal Time Constant? (UTC) what a joke, fortunately it never caught on. Will they never learn?

  4. I got paid plenty of overtime for Y2K. Unfortunately, I’m on salary now so it won’t help me.

LyndonB, the only excuse I heard for the change is it will help cut heating costs in early and late winter. Kinda sounds like bullshit to me. The Frogs can kiss my buttocks with their UTC. Even though now they’re trying to call it “Internet Time”.

  5. Aaaaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh - this will drive me crazy - I can reset the clock on my computer, but heaven help me with the VCR and my outside light...........I had a new electric outside lamp-post installed 2 years ago - it is on a timer in my basement - have yet to figure out how to reset it for DST - probably just let it be & see what happens.........

  6. Get a kid to look at it Dottie. I’m serious. I had to write out a page of instructions for my Mom to set the VCR herself. My (then) five year old nephew could do it for her without instructions.

I sort of wonder how many VCRs are, at this moment, flashing 12:00. LOL
