Here’s a Washington Times opinion piece on the subject. Looks like the commies want to use our capitalism against us.
Only about 40% of oil is used for fuel. The rest of it is used to make stuff like plastics and such things as fibers for clothing and carpets, etc.
Then we enter the problem of scale. Sure, some could run a vehicle on chickenshit or cow manure, but there is no way to squeeze enough
out of the critters to make up for the difference.
I suppose that we could use alcohol more for fuel, but that wouldn’t make up the difference either and would create a lot more waste. Some of it could be fed to critters to make more
but we couldn’t stuff all the waste into the critters we have today.
Okay, we breed more critters to produce more
and eat the waste from alcohol production but the greenies would go ape from all the extra cow farts polluting the ozone or something.
Yep, I’m all for alternative fuels, but we’re sorta stuck with what we have until we can get the other stuff on line and even then we’re still fighting the problem of scale.
OCT is on the money here...I remember the old stories about carbs that allowed for 50+ mpg and other alternative ideas/inventions....where are they now? As for the cartoon above...the first thing which came to mind…

I remember those stories too. There are a lot of stories that I remember. Wouldn’t you think that at least one of them would have “leaked” out despite having been bought up? Or did they buy ‘em up and then kill everyone who knew anything about ‘em? Why buy them up then?

Yes those types of fuel improvment devices etc are often in the media but always turn out to be bogus and just looking for free advertising on the news. The fuel we use for our cars and trucks now we use BECAUSE its the most convienent system ever discovered, so much so that after 100 years nothing even comes close to the power density of gasoline. Also there is NOTHING wrong with the way it works whatsoever. ONLY the enviro idots have a problem with it. The internal combustion engine is a miracle and has been refined to the point through fuel injection and emission controls where it makes very little polltion. The enviro idiots consist of a TINY group of less than .05% of the population, I suggest you get in your car and go waste some gas as we have huge reserves that will likely never run out. If you go the http://www.changingworldtech.com you will find out why. There is a new technology that is similar to oil refining but much more advanced with new processes that can get oil and natural gas from any carbon based feed stock. That means old tires, agricultural waste, animal waste, even sewage and and many other things can be converted into gas and oil with no wastebyproducts and also mineral recovery. The process is 85% efficent!! The company is Changing World Technology and Warren Buffets son is investing in it. This is what we have been waiting for to get rid of the middle east oil. I think the test plants are done and they have built one or two plants aleady.
