  1. Thank God and the baby Jesus! And every single member of the VRWC and all true Americans who utterly swamped the government with phone calls, emails, and letters.

But be prepared for Round 3 ... cuz this crap ain’t over yet.

  2. Well, right now, this ol’ broad is doin’ the Snoopy dance.  Think they’ll actually decided to ENFORCE the laws we already have?  Nah....that would make too much sense. confused

  3. I am so happy that this has gone down. I am hoping that their failure and 19% favorable rating will make them rethink their terrible mistakes.

But with Raging Reid and BDS suffering Pelosi at the helm - I don’t think that it is going to happen anytime soon.

Nov 2008 can’t happen too soon with this bunch in DC.

  4. Hooray for our side.

Keep your powder dry, though--those creeps are not done with this.

  5. Let’s see:

    Silver Bullets check
    Wooden Stakes check
    Crucifix check
    Garlic garland check
    Mirror check
    Torches check

I think we’re ready if the POS comes back to life.

  6. They will be back for round 3, even though they know it won’t work.

But, this does not mean they have any intention on enforcing the laws already on the books.  In fact, I can see Harry Reid obstructing enforcement due to an insane temper fit.  Same for Bushy.  I’m so disgusted with him right now, I’m almost embarrassed to admit I voted for him.  Almost.  I have to consider what the alternatives were.

  7. Yesssss!  I’m not gonna party too hard ... this thing has refused to stay dead before.

  8. Well, maybe the silent majority has found its voice and maybe the loons we have sent to Washington will not have so much trouble hearing it in the future.  I really am surprised.  I thought we were screwed, particulary with W pushing so hard. of course my senators (Schumer & Clinton) havent heard me yet, i Gotta get out of NY.

  9. Good.

Rhetorical question:  Why are our representatives so dense when it comes to understanding what their constituents want and why don’t they seem interested in representing the best interests of the U.S.?

Side note:  How do these gargantuan pieces of legislature, nearly the size of an encyclopedia come into being virtually overnight?  Who’s working them out in the shadows and then springing them?  Wardmama’s comment from her rep that he didn’t actually know what was in the bill is downright scary.

  10. Here’s the list of “Republicans” for your S-List: Bennett, Craig, Graham, Gregg, Hagel, Kyl, Lott, Lugar, McCain, Martinez, Snowe, and Specter. Too many Demos to list. Nelson (D-Fl) and Martinez (R-Fl) are my senators but I only voted for the ex-Cuban Martinez. If any of the senators who were for the bill are from your state, keep reminding them by e-mail until they are gone.

  11. Craig’s on my list.  He voted for it twice, and he’s up to be out next year, I bet.

Dr. Jeff, I was listening to Sean Hannity yesterday, and when Voinovich came on, I could not believe how stupid he sounded about this issue as well as the fairness doctrine.  He just did not know what he was about.  And he refused to answer any specific questions.  It was pretty pathetic.

The “gargantuan piece of legislature” is actually put together by a huge team of staff members.  For that matter, the staff members are the ones putting all of the crap in the bills.  That’s why the actual senators don’t know what is in the bill—they aren’t writing anything.  Zip, nada.  A great book to read that deals with this in some detail is “Debt of Honor” by Tom Clancy.  Big bill, lots of strong feelings, written by staff members, crammed through in a hurry.  Bad results in the end.  It’s a long read, but worth it.

  12. more good news, the fairness doctrine just went down on a 309-115 vote in the House.

  13. The outcome of the vote in the senate was completely irrelevant.  The bill never would have survived in the house.  The senate lives in fantasy world. I have never seen a group more disconnected from the real world than our senate.  Except perhaps for the House of Lords in England.  The house members however have to get re-elected every two years and they or at least my representative is listening.  Our Senators from Illinois are idiots.  Durbin blathers on about the “voices of exclusion”. What they don’t get is I am not against immigration, my grandfather was an immigrant, what I am against is ILLEGAL immigration.
    What morons.

  14. If you really want a sobering view of what Congress and the Congressional staffers think of us and the American political process, you need to read this. Start about 5pm on 6/27, and see just how things are being run up there.

This bill may be dead, but it will be back. The contempt and arrogance of these people know no bounds!

  15. CandyU - that was interesting.  As if we needed proof there really are two Americas.  The morons in DC and the rest of us.
