No, I did NOT peek in the back! I’ll post the solution in a day or so.
There is so much going on here I don’t know what to say. But I will say this. I am going to study moving the pawn at e5 to e4 and see what happens. If I spend a few hours maybe by tomorrow I will know if that was a good move or not. Fie on you Chris, this one is tough!
Don’t fie on me! I’m just posting what’s in the book! And face it, now you’ll be busy excerising those dormant brain cells. I’m doing you a favor!
It can’t be that tough, I did solve it once. No, I haven’t peeked at the answer yet.
As for 1…e4, I don’t like it. Black’s knight on h5 is hanging. With check! Can’t be the right answer.
Took another 25 minutes but I have it. A bishop move but not the obvious one.
As I said Wes, I haven’t peeked yet. The only bishop move I see would be 1… Bg4. Which has the advantage of using the pin on White’s f3 pawn. The motif is the pin. Unfortunately, I don’t see a Black win after White takes 2. Rxg4.
You may have it right, but could you please post a little more analysis? Magical Bishop moves tick me off. Can’t think what they do to Drew!
I’m sure I’m missing something obvious, but maybe
1. ... Bg4
2. Rxg4 ... Qf1 Ch
3. Rg1 ... Kg3 ch
4. Pxg3 ... Qh3 mate
You have the threat CenTexTim so after
1. ... Bg4 white is forced to play
2.f3xBg4 ... QxQ
3.g4xNh5 ... and black will easily win the endgame.
