  1. Well, it is certainly far more benign than most coups in the Caribbean, but I must state that while under most circumstances I would applaud Britain, now I can only look back at Pieper’s posts and say that the mother country should heal thyself first.

  2. I read a bit more, and it looks like the leaders there were about to turn the islands into Drug Runner Central. I mean, the place already is, but we’re talking Above Board, like one of those corrupt west african nations.

I think it would be very smart for Britain to come in, clean house, read the Riot Act, then run local elections and go home. Six months, tops. Maybe build a couple schools and pave a few roads and put in a sewer processing plant, or upgrade a hospital, just so they look beneficent, but then get the heck outta Dodge ASAP.

  3. You may be right Drew but the other thread running through this is Gordon Brown’s announcement at the G12 (or whatever rinky dink get together they last had) that they are going to crack down on tax havens. Already Lichtenstein has agreed to open its books and I expect they will be squeezing the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands next. This strikes me as bankrupt Britain (thanks to the socialists again) looking to bully a small country into handing over a few million in tax.
