  2. A Google search will find Chip Davis. He’s the founder of Mannheim Steamroller. Before that he had that trucking hit in the 70s — Convoy.

I specifically want a Christmas tag. December 25th. The day Christians normally celebrate as the birth of Christ Our Lord. It’s a holy day, not a holiday. A holy day almost every Christian sect celebrates. Yes, we know Christ wasn’t born then. The early church just took over a pagan celebration and christianized it.

Count me appalled peiper that you don’t understand my request. I’m reading Dennis Prager’s most recent book: Still The Best Hope. In that book he traces the loss of Christianity in Europe. Britain in particular is now Lefist and not Christian. This includes the Anglican ‘church’, if you can still call it a church. They want to ‘accomodate’ Muslim Sharia law. A ‘law’ that is antithetical to British freedoms.

You might remember that the 13 colonies rebelled over far less crap that the Brits are now putting up with. ‘NO GO’ areas in you own towns because Muslims might be offended?

  3. I don’t know that it’s a matter of not understanding. As a holy day, or as a holiday, Christmas is still a holiday.

And you can’t create categories yourself? I didn’t know that, not knowing what the “power levels” of the various admins are.

Some years ago we tried to thin the categories down, which made us generalize at times.

Tell ya what, I’ll see if I can subset you a Christmas category.

PS - an unintentional gap left on a painted surface? Learn something new every day!

  4. Christopher.... I think this was a simple misunderstanding with regard to the word TAG.

You were asking about a tag and I just didn’t get it.  Now I understand that what you want is a category just for Christmas. Since Drew already addressed it I’ll leave it with him but ....  I have only known what you call tags as categories and just did not make the connection. So an honest misunderstanding there and nothing to get upset over.

There is much in what you say with problems here and again, the person to address each would be Lyndon who believe me, is very well informed.
Yeah ... the church here seems to have a very liberal bent in my view, based on quotes from some of their reps.

As to No Go Zones ....  I believe I answered that one recently.  If you are referring to the police, that would not be true at all.  Not that I have seen anyway but again, LyndonB would know and I am now curious enuff to write and ask him about that.
On the other hand, if you’re referring to no go zones with regard to civilians, well heck. That’s true of every city in every country in the world. By which I mean, neighborhoods to avoid.

RE: Chip Davis.  Did he record under another name?  The reason I ask is because the only “hit” recording I remember of a record called Convoy, was a country hit which after all this time I’l have to look up.  I seem to recall a fellow named Cletis Maggard?? I’m not even sure of the spelling after all ths time but I sure did play the record a lot.

  6. To all: As far as I know I’m a humble admin. In fact, I wanted to get rid of categories that are just out-of-date. They were politics at the time the Skipper ran this blog. A Christmas category will never be out out date. But since I’m the one wanting to pare down the out-of-date categories we have I’ve never even tried to create a new one.

peiper, Chip Davis recorded a country western song called Convoy under the name C.W. McCall. My fault. I forgot most don’t know he’s the Mannheim Steamroller guy too.

Rich, just shows I’m retreading all the good stuff and doing away with the bad. Hardly a Bible Thumper. I’m Mormon. BTW, you have issues with the Bible? Most people do, but the basic teachings still work.

I’d like to think my recent posts show my 12-step blogging program …

first step: Drew says you have a problem!
    second step: peiper agrees!

still working on the next 10 steps. grin

  7. Silly Christopher, I have enormous respect for that old Jewish history book and the prose and poetry it contains. I have also found words of wisdom in the Torah, the Koran and early in my adult life I even tinkered around with Scientology ( mainly to get laid by the Hot redhead who was SO into it).So cool your jets and raise a glass to Holidays, no matter what your flavor.

  8. Christopher, that’s it. CW McCall. Yes. now I remember. Oh boy was that ever a fun song and very clever. Just as an example of the frustration I endured seeing talent go to waste, a 12 year old girl with a great voice and natural writing talent, wrote another cb trucker song in a tribute to the modern day range rider cowboy, the American trucker. It was called “From cowpokes to gear jammers”.  She used to listen to my show every day and called in to talk about music, where it was heading and even history. Anyway, When I left radio and moved to Nashville we stayed in touch and actually not that song recorded. Sadly, I have no copies. We stayed in touch for some years and like many girls before her,she married her boyfriend, had kids and he was not very nice. They divorced but she never got a career chance. Never got a break but never complained. I tried so hard to get some
folks to listen to her and pay some attention as well to her awesome writing ability.
There’s a point of no return or was back then, when you broke in unencumbered or fell by the wayside which happens much more to women due to marriage and kids and then health.
So anyway, your reminding me of McCall brought back that memory.

  12. Redhead? Where?
    That was my question too.

I know where she is. I always know.

  13. Oh that redhead. I was so into the music and the beauty of the entire group I couldn’t single out just one. “Bet you can’t eat just one?” No, I like to nibble here and there.
