Breaking news of the morning.  PINK is dangerous color for girls. HUH? Sorry moms.

  1. This is just the recycled bs of the 70s (when are the hippies going to die off - and damn now they are in positions of power (i.e. The Man - how ironic is that?!?)) - I attempted that a tad with my oldest two - gave the son a Joey (yes anatomically correct and all that) doll and the daughter a tool belt (sadly for the rental house, real tools included) - Joey went into the bottom of the toy box, never to be seen or played with again and the daughter used the tools to destroy her door jam.

Live and learn - never did such hokey nonsense again.

I agree Pink is damaging to EVERYONE but I’m sorry - one of the greatest problems of our current society is that girls and boys are not being raised as girls and boys but some spineless, confused, angry metro-mix that does nothing good for either sex or gender or what-ever the word of the day is.

  3. It all sounds very silly to me. Colors can only be damaging based on what messages a parent sends when they give their child a toy in X color. But since we have given up on parenting and expect the state to raise our kids, well, we get this kind of crap.

And men should have just as much say in this as women. Men are fathers and they should have a say in the rearing of all their children - not just the ones they share a sex with.

  4. More crap ... and as noted above, recycled crap to boot.

At least one study thinks it’s biological programming. Anyone anywhere with a daughter has been through the pink phase. Eventually pink fascination morphs into horses and then into boys, but for some it never ends.

Dried up old raisin #73, Sue Palmer, author of Toxic Childhood gets all bent out of shape about it:

the overdose of the colour keeps girls from thinking for themselves or from rebelling against the “princess role”.

Having no daughters myself I can’t speak to this, but what better fantasy is there for a child than that? The “princess role”: you are highly valued, highly protected, totally privileged and powerful, yet have no responsibilities.

But I don’t think it’s fair to stereotype the color itself. Pink can be just as assertive, powerful, and aggressive as black. It’s all in the content, not the context:

  5. Macker - hippie - commie: same ole same ole. Take from everyone else to keep their own lives, dope and rules - while everyone else does the work and obeys. And the world/commune becomes a 3rd world cesspool.

    The song remains the same.
