  1. This was not a crushing defeat for the Republicans.  A crushing defeat would be if the Republicans had lost 75% of every seat in the nation.  This was a warning to politicians of both parties that they had better behave.  Cut out the crap, stop the corruption and work together as Americans.  The next election will decide which direction the US wants to go.  I suspect that the 2008 elections will prove to be an upset for some very entrenched politicians.  If I were a politician that dodged the bullet this time, the next election might prove to very risky indeed.  The Republicans had better clean house, look back to their roots as Reagan conservatives and behave accordingly.

  2. It is a defeat, but not as bad as some/most mid-term presidents have suffered. Read Coulter’s column for some historical numbers.

That being said, wasn’t getting rid of the filibuster (that every American despises) yet ANOTHER issue that the GOP could have pushed through, yet fell on its elephantine butt, and we wound up with the “gang of 14” crap? Maybe that would have saved them a couple seats, it’s possible.

Every hour that goes by, I’m feeling more and more like Anonymous from the previous post. The USA is supposed to be a representitive democracy. These guys weren’t representin’. Hasta la bye-bye be-atches.
