Sure. As if Korda is getting a slice of the pie from every vendor the world over who makes crap with that murderer’s face on it. He’d be a trillionaire if that was the case. Shirts, hats, coffee mugs, posters; it’s universal. Copyright laws notwithstanding, at what point does an iconic image become generic? “Kleenex”, “Xerox”, “Coke”, the Rosenthal picture of the Marines planting the flag on Iwo Jima, etc. The Che picture is more than 50 years old and has been used by millions of people to make money. Sooner or later it’s going to have to be accepted that it is public domain.
not only that Drew but, the dog is also better looking.
The dog is indeed better looking. But Che is a public figure… subject to parody without compensation.
The thought that anybody, or his estate, would want to enrich themselves from a murdering thug disgusts me.
Drew: After all...Hell is a Public Domain.
Having thought about it, somebody has really insulted dogs.
Pity this wasn’t done by an American photographer, where parody is protected. It still could be though. ;)
Dammit Christopher, get out of my head! On both your posts!
