  1. You ever see this guy with a weapon?  Bet he wusses out when push comes to shove, but if he really wants to go to Allah, there are many who will be happy to move him closer.

  2. This would have been cured if the problem had been militarily addressed at Falluja. You can’t negotiate with these animals.

  3. al-Sadr tends to disappear when the shooting starts, and doesn’t show back up until it is safe.

Jack, Fallujah is a different town, and a different problem.  Sadr’s bunch is further south, centered in An-Najaf.  They blew up at the same time in April, because al-Sadr was looking for his chance, and he thought that was it.

So far, around 3000 of Sadr’s closest friends have died for their convictions, and we are working on the rest.  Sadr has been marginalized by the Muslim clerics he hoped would support him, and his popular support is growing thin.  The Iraqi government considers him to be an irritant and a nuisance, but not much more.  The locals look upon him as a nuisance, and his fighters as thugs and drug addicts.  This is pretty much his last gasp, his final shot to stay alive.

Now the press, reporting by remote control from Baghdad, treats him like a viable player.  My guess is that they need any anti-Coalition players they can find to build up against the e-vile Americans.  Sadr isn’t anything as significant as he is made out to be.

  4. Chuck - Godspeed and good hunting.

  5. Chuck, that is an excellent observation. Sadr is a pipsqueak bandit. No more no less. However, the media has made him into a hero. Bullshit!

Most of us understand we’re dealing with a numb-nuts, half-ass thug who runs and hides and calls for a truce whenever the US troops get too close. His troops are mostly criminals like you say and it will all catch up to him eventually. I foresee an execution in his future.

  6. I heard a local DJ putting out an appeal to all Cadillac dealerships.  The soldier that kills al-Sadr will get a brand new escalade.

So far no takers from Cadillac.
