  1. Wasn’t that whole “local officials installed by overseas government” thing resolved back in 1776?????

Do we get a say in who runs THEIR government too???

    wink

  2. Of course not Tim...that’s because we’re the United States of America.

  3. I can’t think of a better reason to vote for McCain....

    Well, maybe Sarah. wink

  4. Of COURSE the common mobs of the world like what that tawdry demagogue represents, because they know he represents NOTHING, and less than nothing!

Their mobmasters like him too, knowing that he hasn’t the principle of a cockroach, and believing, therefore, that they can do what they like with him.

And of course McCain (and Sarah) are disliked, inasmuch as they are known to actually represent something in the nature of principle.

To the common rabble, any rabble, ANYONE’s rabble, principles of any kind usually are what crosses are to vampires.

Les projectiles de raisin guĂ©rissent une foule!”

    LOL

  5. Peiper, I HOPE it means “Grapeshot heals a mob.” I may be wrong.  If so, I will gladly welcome a correction, for this is one of the phrases that I collect, and I want to make sure it’s right.....LOL

  6. I realize we have a number of readers from across the pond, so, please take this as only one man’s opinion. I speak for myself, and noone else.

England, and the English-language countries such as Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Austrailia, NZ, etc… Love to hear your ideas, listen with respect, but lets remember that back in ‘76 or so, we came to a decision about who has final word. Kinda like listening to your Father and Mother, but now they are getting elderly and may not be keeping up with your family, and making decisions for the wellbeing of your family.

Germany, the Beneleux nations, Italy, Greece, Spain, Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, etc… Sorta the same - we listen, kinda like an elderly Aunt or Uncle, or maybe even semi-distant cousins. Bit more detached. With varying levels of respect, but again, we’re persuing an agenda of what is right for the United States as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else. Have no reservations about helping anyone or working with them for an objective.

Israel - interesting relationship. Maintains relationships with distant relatives that don’t like the United States too much and mooch (borrow money, etc...) off of the United States when it is beneficial, and is quasi-independent when it is convenient for it.  A compilcated relationship - sometimes we make decisions that are not clearly-cut in the United States’ favor when it comes to Israel.

South Korea, Mexico, etc… - These are the relatives who are always asking for a handout, looking for a job, but SWEAR to you they will get there someday. Being kind is OKAY, but taking economic advice from them is probably not bright.

India, Turkey, Brazil, Much of South America - Neighbors, know ‘em to see ‘em, good folk, never bother anyone. Seem to be hardworking, honest folks - seem to be friendly. Will and do speak to them on occasion, but the daily grind of making a living a providing for the family have not allowed a closer relationship - on either side. Cordial.

Russia, China - Respected adversaries. We don’t agree on a number of things, but generally want to leave them alone or have a cool relationship as long as they don’t rattle our cage. This is the neighbor that you don’t like, but they leave you alone and you do the same. Maybe like a co-worker you don’t like, but have to deal with them on a daily basis and BOTH of you have a job to do or you BOTH lose. Again, the key word here is “Respect” - maybe begrudged sometimes, but relative respect.

The Middle East, NoKo, Africa, Cuba, to an extent Venezuela: Batshit crazy. This are the assholes of the world - they’ll burn their own house down and demand that you give them room to camp in your yard. They claim they are rulers of the world, and their people suffer like dogs. This is the idiot down the street looking over his fence at you holding a rifle. You keep your eye on this nutcase, and you have to continue to evaluate if he needs to have his toys taken away from him before he hurts someone.

France: In a league of it’s own.

So the long and the short: Most of our ancestors came here to get away from the various systems ranging from merely unwanted to downright fucking dangerous and homicidal. You run your countries as you see fit, and we’ll do the same.

I can’t WAIT to see the replies to this one… wink

  7. clap clap  Excellent work, Tee!

Only one small suggestion.  If I had to fit France into this scenario, I’d suggest a suave and debonair rogue of a traveling peddler who is always knocking on doors and trying to sell snake-oil.

    wink

  8. Yo, Tann - Yeah, that’s it! The travelling saleman. Or (unfortunately, a local plague) the door-to-door religion peddlers trying to save my soul. Always dressed very neatly, speaks very persuasivly, and you wish would just go the hell away and leave you alone!

  9. I thought the world did elect its leader, its called the UN, fat lot of good it is too, currently having a competition with the EU to see who is most batshit crazy/corrupt, currently the score is love all! (wasnt the UN a democrat idea?)
T, that is brilliant, France is intresting, it was Republic untill the commies kneecapped it in the 30s, please, please dont let the USA go the same way.
Perhaps France is like a favorite uncle, maybe a glam rock star, lots of charisma and wealth untill he is discovered to be a paedophile and now keeps turning up at your house with pitifull attempts to regain his lost respect.(any similarity to Mr Glitter is accidental)

  10. Chris, I’ll have to defer to your analysis of France.  You hit far nearer the mark than I did.  Sharp work.  Keep it up.  wink
