  1. Not quite 1980, at least for me.

    I’ll admit, I was not a Carter supporter in 1980. This was the first Presidential election I could vote in. I did flirt with supporting John Anderson, but what put me firmly in the Reagan camp was a news clip. It showed Reagan leaving from wherever he was speaking. It showed him opening the door for Nancy, it showed him carrying their luggage to throw into the trunk of the car. While he was loading the luggage, a news reporter asked him something like: ‘Mr. Reagan, how would you handle negotiations with the Iranians over the current hostage crisis?’

    Mr. Reagan replied: ‘The United States does not negotiate with terrorists.’

    He had my vote then.

    Yes, I know, the whole thing could have been staged. But if that were true, I’m sure it would have come out by now.

  2. I liked him as president and also voted for him as gov. in Ca. Still miss him.
