  1. I suspect he was perceived as a weak disciplinarian or incompetent teacher by his students for reasons other than his baldness, and that was merely a handle they hung on him to show their contempt. Kids are very perceptive and can be cruel that way.

  2. When I was a kid some 30+ years ago we had a “slap head “ French teacher. He was a big fellow and good natured. One of my classmates was a born trouble maker. Not a bad person, but he couldn’t help getting in to scrapes. One day he was walking down the corridor when he spotted the French teacher and yelled out “Oi Kojak, get a hair cut” The teacher picked him up and threw him up against the lockers winding him and said to the kid. “Please don’t call me Kojak” strangely enough he never repeated the error.
    Of course in our

  3. Exactly. He may feel that this is his only recourse, since being an actually solid disciplinarian is prohibited by law. And what the hell, it’s illegal to hurt someone’s feelings in any OTHER fashion, why shouldn’t he get coddled too?

  4. Given the prevailing mindset that one must be “politically correct” Mr. Campbell probably thought he had a very good chance of a guaranteed income for life without doing anything.  Those kids who called him “baldy” were most definitely politically incorrect.  Civilized people don’t go around making fun of and hurting the feelings or disregarding the needs of those who aren’t one of the “norm”.  Right?  After all, the muzzies get footbaths in English palaces & various airports.  Students in more than one place are forced to take on muzzie names and observe Ramadan as they live as muzzies (strange that doesn’t apply to other religions and their practices /sarcasm).  The feelings of the one carry more weight than the needs of the many seems to be the password of the day.  To sum it up, the inmates are running the asylum and the staff’s fresh out of thorazine.
