Avatar hit by accusations of racism.  Some folks just have to see race in everything.

 

1. Yeah, it would be nice if you could save yourselves. We’ve been waiting about 500 years now. Give us a heads up when you’re ready.

   That said, these folks have is bass-ackwards. Avatar is really Deep Space Dances With Wolves. Which is the same as Pocahontas in the 23rd Dimension. Same same. The core theme of the movie is “All white people are bad and evil planet rapers.”

   It’s the white guy - the disabled Marine who saves them, yes - but he saves them by going native and then attacking his own people. Gosh, the whole PLANET rises up (!!!11!!) against the eco-rapists, and they repulse intergalactic military high-tech weaponry with spears and rocks. Yeah, sure. Take out the DeathStar with a snowball. Right.

   I agree with Peiper. When you look at the world through rose colored glasses, you see colors everywhere that aren’t really there ...

   “Olives? Olives is racist!! Uh huh, you know it! Black olives have to come in a can man. Keep them out of sight, keep them under wraps. But oh no, green olives come in nice clear glass bottles! Look how pretty! These the olives you wanna look at. Not the black ones. Hide them in the dark! Totally racist!!”

2. Thousands OCM? In the last couple years, as acts of terrorism, right here in America? That seems pretty far fetched at first glance, so I’m guessing you’re making reference to something else?

   Yes, we’re still dealing with racism. And it’s a two way street, although there might be more traffic flowing in one direction these days than the other.

   I’ve never met anyone who described themselves as uppity. That term is pretty loaded too. “Prickly” serves just as well doesn’t it?

   Like I commented over at Vilmar’s on his Census post, the way to get rid of it is to stop having any races. You’re an American, or you’re a visitor, or you’re an illegal alien. Stop being a color, an ethnic, a “group-ist”. Don’t allow the government to even collect the data. Make it a cultural gaff to ever even mention shade or ethnicity. At that point we’ll be past it. Hey, wasn’t that Teddy Roosevelt’s “hyphenated America” idea more than a century ago?

   But as long as we have a victim class that benefits from -isms, we’re stuck with it. Get rid of the stick and the carrot, and soon there won’t be any pony either.

3. Dont we all get tired of all this Balh Blah Blah about race cause I know i do. If this idiot cameron got his buds to fork out 500 mill to make this shiny epic then someday I will pay 1 dollar to netflicks to see it.Beyond that its just a movie and I could care zero about its politics.Pass the popcorn, I feel a fart coming on.

4. Oh, for crap’s sake…

   Me, I couldn’t help but notice that all the “evil” characters were white.

   Soldiers?  Evil.
   Capitalists?  Evil.

   OTOH: Cripple?  Good.
   Lesbian?  Good.
   Hispanic?  Good.
   Black/indian/whatever guy?  Good.
   Gay/Dorky white guy?  Good.

   Further, Scientific/advanced culture is evil, while “native” / primitive culture is good.

   As has been said, it’s “dances with wolves” or “pocahontas” or “fern gully:the last rain forest” or…

   Same predictable, Lib-tard agit-prop nonsense…
