Are you driving a Homomobile?

  1. It’s too bad about Subaru’s immage.  That AWD tubocharged WRX will do low 13 second quarter miles right off the showroom floor.

  2. Pray tell, how does Subaru, or any carmaker, design their cars for the “homosexual crowd”. I realize that this question could trigger some terrifically funny answers, (I hope it does actually) but I’ve heard this rumor before about Subaru’s “Forester” model. Other than its superior crash test ratings I don’t see any design features that are different then, say, in a Toyota “Rav 4”, or a Honda “CRV”. What am I not seeing? Sales gimmicks or come-ons (sorry) to clubs or special interest groups are one thing, but how would the design of the car be changed? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.

  3. Big Digger, it’s not so much what they put in the car (although, like you I’d love to see how they accessorize a car to appeal to homosexuals/lesbians---I could start with some ideas but I will leave it to our clever readers) but how they are marketing it.  Let’s see how politically incorrect they can be.

Back to the marketing angle, how would a dealership go about this?  Big ads with two effiminate guys tooling around in a jag, kissing on one another, mewling about how its “curves” turn them on?

Oran ad with a couple of butch dykes with rolled up sleeve t-shirts hauling logs with their Rover?

  4. Here in Montana, we see lots of ‘em around....not with homos in ‘em either.

  5. If you ain’t driving a ‘57 Chevy with foam dice hanging from the rear view mirror, you ain’t driving shit. But I’ll settle for my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

  6. I read back last year in the automotive section of a KC paper that Subaru was marketing their cars toward the lesbian crowd.  They were using well know lesbian sports figures in advertisments.  Unfortunately when you do that, it attaches a stigma to the car and that’s too bad because they are some nice cars.

  7. Not that I would ever have purchased a jaguar, land rover or subaru to begin with… Ford or Chevy/GMC are the only vehicles that will ever sit in my driveway. But if I did, by the time all of the requesite NRA, Bush/Cheney and terrorist hunting permit stickers were applied there would be little doubt as to the beliefs of the driver.

  8. Bob, now that you mention it, I’ve seen Forester ads with tennis star gals with gay reputations but the Outback marquee people have been Hulk Hogan and Lance Armstrong. Looks like Subaru is typecasting their cars.

  9. I don’t understand targeting such a small, mentally ill minority...and therefore risking the ire of normal people.

Homosexuals are only 1% of the population...yet they caused 81% of the Catholic church scandals. Lesbians are an even smaller percentage…

Why target such a small segment of the population?

The answer is obvious: Queers are very well off indeed. No families to support...no children to support…

Their per-capita income is much greater than normal family-oriented heterosexuals.

A ‘family-of-four’ in the queer world will consist of four income-earning male queers.

A ‘family-of-four’ in the normal world consists of a man (working full-time), a wife (maybe working part-time), and two minor children.

Note the 4::1 (or 4::1.5, if the wife works part-time) earnings ratio.
